There's no viable melee setup without brd. It is what it is.
By Goltana101 on 2025-10-22 14:42:46
There's blitzer's roll, which is mostly a net loss in virtually every scenario I can think of. And it's not magical haste anyways.

I mean I said it in as many words that the comp was not good, but was trying to give suggestions based on what they were using. Not advocating for it, just offering advice based on what they have. Even still, my suggestions are probably going to be ignored. It's not like the SMN is Papesse or Pergatory, and I doubt the SCH+RDM have the requisite gear to even run a magical bursting setup without GEO and RUN.

Just curious, what jobs do you have available for endgame content?

unorthodox setups are always neat but yeah, no brd is usually a hefty loss, could probably swap the THF for brd and improve the DPS of everyone more than the loss of a "dedicated" DD job, or just swapping the THF to a more offensive burst DD (SAM or WAR, though DRG or DRK can also work)

among those only skill effects magic barrier, diamondhide, occulation, and metallic body. If skill is doing anything for plasma charge/reactor cool id guess its effecting the accuracy of the spikes

Barrier Tusk is interesting. It not only does -15% damage taken but also gives MDB and MEVA

This is wholly unknown to NA players, if true.

I don't know what you're talking about, but the Marid version of Barrier Tusk is different than the blue magic version. The BLU spell just gives base phalanx effect and phalanx+ gear doesn't work on it. Blue Magic Skill doesn't affect it either. JP wiki lists all of these details.

As far as roles go RDM is of course enfeebling and then healing/MBing, Scholar is primarily buffs and nukes/MB, SMN is healing mostly. I think we are getting all the important buffs/debuffs out there although maybe not Warcry and we do not have anyone able to Impact currently. SCH has a passing interest in GEO and I've got BRD almost up and running but I don't think anyone else will play either of them (or WHM) anytime soon.

You've mentioned MBing, so you may be able to go full out on a nuking strategy, as it can be easier to tackle bosses. Triboulex you might time out on and eat Setting the Stage. Still, with your setup, if you all practice, you could do a 4-step SC (Immananence: Liquefaction > Fusion > ClimacticFlourish + Shark Bite) and have the SCH+RDM nuke fire, and the SMN can do Flaming Crush MB. I still think THF is the sitting duck in this particular setup, but if you all are stuck with that particular job comp, I would try to create nonstop Fusion/Light Skillchains and have the mages contribute damage with Fire MB. The THF can even use Naegling/Kaja Sword instead of a dagger to force a stronger stacked WS in (Sneak Attack/TrickAttack +) Savage Blade. In fact, Savage Blade replaces Shark Bite in the above SC, so the THF can alternate a stacked WS with the DNC every other SC to close a big Light for more consistent damage.

As far as Impact is concerned, you can kill the Abyssea version of Shinryu and proc him for the Twilight Cloak, as it is an invaluable (and often underutilized) spell for higher level content. If that is out of reach, Fenrir has a much weaker version of Impact that varies with your summoning skill.

If RNG had a foot, it would surely enjoy kicking dogs
RNG doesn't need feet. Without hands it still slaps everyone upside the head. Dogs included.

Triboulex and Dhartok are probably the two easiest without BRD/GEO because you can land a guaranteed Distract on them.

The elk story actually renewed my hope in humanity.

The idea that predators while feels like strong and domnating.

In a long run, as long as the good can persevere the hardships.

They will be the last one standing.

The predators will fall earlier. Simly because their way of life is just not sustaintable.

This year was definitvively one of the coldest I have ever experienced at this city.

Worst than the coldest, the flutuation is insane.

We had a cold week, then a hot one, now again a pretty cold.

This variation is normally way more dangerous to cause colds and flus. RIght now Im about to have a cold due to those abrupt changes.

I find myself enjoying the 27-28 acc on Ephramad's as much as the STR/PDL. WS sets typically find themselves at much lower acc values than TP sets, and Ephramad's helps alleviate that a bit. Ephramad's is also useful for both single and multi-hit WSs while Cornelia's is moreso limited to single-hit WSs.
Yes to both, absolutely, but Cornelia also has +10 Acc, inferior but it does have some.
Furthermore there's hardly any relevant multihit WS for SAM, since we're discussing it for this job and not in general.

Thanks for the input, most of what I've read indicates Triboulex should probably be the next target. It certainly sounds a lot more straightforward. We're mostly around Empyrean+2.5 in terms of equipment level and between 10-20 ML. No REMA weapons aside from my own Twashtar and Terpsichore.

As far as roles go RDM is of course enfeebling and then healing/MBing, Scholar is primarily buffs and nukes/MB, SMN is healing mostly. Taking into account some recent frustrating attempts at other content I think we're just uncoordinated and do crap damage. Two dagger users and no GEO/BRD isn't doing us any favors admittedly but when you have the same problems doing most content then the content itself probably isn't the problem lol.

The point is that you can clear a seg run in 23 minutes or you can clear in 27 minutes, but the effort and reward are the same.

Uh, not all groups can clear a seg run in 30 minutes!

You're indicating a skill issue to make a point about gear? I think you can do better than this.

OK, just to clarify so we're all on the same page here though...

Dodik has tested extensively so he knows exactly which PDL value (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) to use on every single pack of the 46 mobs in Sheol: C, for each of the 4 different floors (184 unique mobs) and knows this whether songs are SV or not, whether Aria is on, and whether Aria is stage 4 or 5, and adjusts this based on the result of the Chaos roll he has active...

But he doesn't want to share that information, because it's too complicated. So he's asking you to test it for yourself.

That's just Sheol C, of course...how about Ou, Gin, Kin, Dhartok, Aita, Perfidien, every Apex and Locus mob, and all 17 Gaol bosses at all 25 vengeance levels?

Of course it's easy to always toggle back and forth between his 7 PDL sets to make optimal use of every WS, since he did all the testing. Now you should do it too.
By Dodik on 2025-10-21 20:07:36
Test it. And. Find out.
By maletaru on 2025-10-21 20:06:03
With all due respect, this entire conversation is missing Shadowmeld's point entirely.

He's said, repeatedly, that he doesn't believe in having multiple tiers of PDL sets and he doesn't personally use them. He's also said it's difficult to know on a mob-by-mob basis exactly how much PDL he needs to use. He's asked others if they know exactly how much PDL to use in each situation and then swap into that exact amount of PDL.

In return, everyone is mansplaining how PDL works.
