-Arke set has no Magic Evasion (gives -DT); the tradeoff is you receive more TP per hit received at the expense of taking significantly higher magic damage.

I thought the tradeoff for arke was you get all the resist debuff stuff without the magic evasion

I use the following:

Group1
Helix 5/5
Sublimation 5/5

Group2
Focalization 4/5
Enlightenment 1/5
Stormsurge 5/5

Focalization was from a long time ago when I felt it made a difference during Tabula to land strong helixes.
Nowadays it's probably no longer useful to me but I've been lazy to change it.

It's fake, you can stop biting.
It's real. In true SE fashion, their way to limit it to 4 is the dumbest *** thing ever.

I don't think it's the dumbest thing ever. We originally had the ability to add over 4 accounts. They took that away. If I was working on this, I'd have just left as much of the code there as I could. Product people change their mind 30 times per second. Considering they obviously had horrible source control management, this is the safest way. You don't want the product people coming back in 6 months telling you to undo the change and then the guy who originally wrote it left the company and you deleted all the code and have to figure it out from scratch again.

Their way of doing it is to not load the add new button if there is four accounts or more. The ui and backend can hold somewhere around 25 accounts.

generally speaking it just comes down to if you have a dnc with you. if you do its a net gain to be /war or /drg, if you dont then DW is the way to go with /nin or dnc. Not sure if /dnc samba from someone else would be enough to push to single wield but if so that's also an option.

Since I'm here, how relevant is Farsha AM? Historically I've liked the idea of playing BST more than actually playing the job, and optimizing around my Farsha always felt awkward. Picking the best sub felt awkward too. How best to work around the jank?

Similar to WAR just worse since you dont get the juicy +DA dmg on 100% of your swings, build to 3k for AM then calamity until its time to re-up, not sure where it'd sit in the hierarchy of BST axes and you'd probably get similar results just using ikenga's and spamming calamity at lower TP values but if you already have the axe then go nuts

I dunno about that guarantee, eventually, of course

I don't remember my cat 1 merits, but for cat 2 most of the time I'm rocking 5/5 Enlightenment/Focalization.

I very rarely change it. I know some people do storm surge, but the bonus for that is so so low that it isn't worth it to me.
By Myamoto on 2025-10-08 11:32:01
I don't see a reason to /war ever, but that is a personal opinion. The simulations noted above are also vastly different from my own. However individual play style is a factor and I personally play BST 99% of the time /dnc. The other 1% would be /drk tbh for LR using Scythe for funzies.
By Cahlum on 2025-10-08 11:26:10
What merits for cat 1 and 2 are people using these days? I see lots of conflicting info

Kudos. I figured it was real but despaired since there wouldn't be a way to distribute a patched binary that would be trustworthy.

First (and probably only) group to clear all 4 original Salvage bosses before they added a chest at the start to give you unlocks without sneaking around the zone sniping stuff while 100% disabled.

Remember all those frogs that would only pop in certain situations that took people forever to figure out? You're welcome. (Ok so it was mostly Aurik & Wafik coming up with the ideas here, gotta give credit where credit is due.)

It was good times

Also got the 2nd Yagrush on Asura out of this. 1st (Amana) beat me by just 1 or 2 days... darn her!

Also cast the first Arise on Asura! Go WHM!

First NA Dynamis Lord attempt on Asura:

We had 2 and a half alliances for this. The linkshell was called "FUSE" (FU SE) and was a joint effort between the 3 biggest NA linkshells: Machina, Tribe, and CrysOfValour. He wiped the floor with us in about 45 seconds flat.

Also first on Asura to kill an animated weapon. It was Wafik's LS Manaburn (named such because we took no jobs in except BLM RDM BRD SMN, not even a tank). We killed Animated Club for Hitosi to finish his Mjollnir. He wasn't technically in the LS but he was the only one on the server with enough currency to actually need the animated weapon killed so we decided to see if we can kill it and brought him along. (Yes, the first relic completed on Asura was a club.)

First group as far as I know that killed all Reisenjima HELMs with SMN burns. People had just started doing Schah that way when we figured out you can do all 7. What followed was the only period in the game's history where I actually did mercenary work... I just loved SMN too much to pass it up.

odd to have gear with only a "negative" stat on it, but once upon a time someone probably used it for 'x-hit' builds since it presumably would give more tp per hit. Similarly I think there were a handful of 2 handed weapons because of this the HQ was less desirable than the NQ because the -5 delay or w/e caused an extra hit to get to 1k tp, and the +1 dmg couldn't possibly make up the difference.

I'm still a fan of the theory that +5s will just take a ton of Apollyon/Temenos points, like >50k.

If they add a fifth version of U/O, it could just drop something else (maybe a fifth version of Homam/Nashira).

For those counting at home:
Mission U/O, HTBF U/O, Original Limbus U/O, HQ Limbus U/O
Homam, Murzim, Enif, Ayanmo
Nashira, Shedir, Adhara, Tali'ah

You forgot MT U/O

Were people actually gatekeeping this information? My "deserve" comment above was nothing more than a bad attempt at wry humor. Gatekeeping anything in an ancient game like this is silly.

Not necessarily this information, but it's a common theme with other community projects over the years. Gatekeep the code/process, lose interest, and the useful project is abandoned.

Gatekeeping pointless ***is the FFXI community way. How else would those people feel important?

Who cares if the project gets abandoned with no one easily able to resume it.

I feel that today's cars are built for drivers who don't really drive, just aim. This is so that driving will be so boring that we will welcome our L 5 self driving overlords.

Yeah, folks will believe anything. If there was a way to mess with the POL UI to support more then four per session, someone from the Windower dev team would of come up with a workaround years ago. They are already in the memory space and can modify all sorts of stuff on-the-fly there.

The only thing fake are the accounts, I needed filler to test the concept/see how many accounts would work.

If you want to try yourself, since I'm sure none of you want to download a random DLL from a idiot on the internet, download a copy of CheatEngine and apply this:

Select POL.EXE as the target process, set value type to 'array of bytes' and search for E8 80 2E 00 00 8B D8 E8 50 3A 00 00 3B D8 7D 39

This should only yield one result, right click the result and click disassemble this memory region. From there, go down to the first 'jnl' instruction, ~4 lines under the original line you started at. (in this picture, jnl app.dll+1A837F)

Double click the jnl instruction you're on, and replace the contents of the box with 'nop' (no quotes), it will ask you if you want to expand the NOP to 2 bytes, say yes.

If you did it correctly, it should now look like this with a double NOP instruction in its place. You should be able to go back to POL and click add member with no error message.

You're welcome.

Jebaited into giving the secret sauce. They don't DESERVE it
