Does Buuki rhyme with Dookie

I guess if you count Geno, Byrth, Myself that technically adds up to 2 "people"?
By Goltana101 on 2025-09-09 12:33:41
I hope you not counting me. I changed servers over a decade ago and never changed my name here. But there's still 2 people on Lakshmi, Byrth holding it down!

Also keep in mind "Resist!" effectiveness is halved against NMs.

Amazing addon. Thanks for taking the time to make this, especially withe aggro list.

I had an issue with the aggro list and a request if possible.
The aggro list doesn't seem to be able to adjust the size at all. I tried changing it in the settings file and also tried looking through the interface but can't find anything. I use a 4k screen so it's just a little smaller than I'd like by default and would love to increase the size.

The other thing is it'd be great if it didn't show all the time and only showed when you had aggro. I couldn't find any ways to make it trigger only if something was on the aggro list or something like that.

Still usable as is and appreciate all the work that went into this.

I'm pretty sure it isn't possible to hit 100% Resist

Iirc I tested this using Sang whatever and Resist Stun from Onca Suit.

Martel probably knows

I always wondered if the staunch a resist ambu cape and a set of volte was worth it for an anti ailments set

Ultimately I just decided to go with full meva for this purpose rather than test

If I had to test, what would be a good method?

FF11 has 4 developers, ff14 has hundreds.

If I remember correctly from the last time they discussed it, ffxi has zero full time developers and they just give random ffxi tasks to employees between their other work tasks. From what I recall, the justification was about how antiquated the tools and systems are and how it didn't serve to further develop their programmers' careers to be stuck on such obsolete work.

SE should open source FFXI.

I'll need to check what my dd set has for dw via trait before testing this

Also
Can't I still use the exe?
I added gear to test in a similar way.

Ideally we don't need to be able to set the spells in the app just to be able to mod the values accordingly

I just did a quick test and it does not appear that it will work, the .exe is precompiled with the code, the gear and enemies files hold data structures which are meant to be read dynamically.

if you just install python from python.org (I think you'll want to check the box to add it to your windows path), if I remember correctly windows comes with tkinter, you might need to install a few other modules, but at the windows command (AkA DOS) prompt "python pip install numpy" (might have to do a few others). I think versions 3.6.x through 3.12.x will work, not sure about the newer ones.

Then you can just "python gui_wsdist.py" and it will work with the modifications.

If that's all too confusing, I can probably just add the option to my fork (although I haven't played with pyinstaller, so I'd need to get that working)

This. Small tangent: My favorite zone design is Hazhalm for this reason. Each Einherjar room connects to each other in a spiraling/winding down pattern. There's a gate with bars that shows a windy stair case/spiral up or down to the next Einherjar room. The bottom 2 are the darkness-filled Odin chambers.

I hate that place so much for the exact same reason: there's enough material leftover in the DATs and in the game lore to know that Einherjar was actually going to be actual content, a dungeon of some sorts where you would have been able to walk on the connecting corridors (that are currently completely inaccessible).

As usual, budget cutting got there before we did.

Queue is a very practical way to do it, but it's not a very easy thing to implement. The existing queue systems are designed for instances that you zone into, they may not directly translate. When working with older systems like this, solutions have to work with what can be easily changed.

Personally, I'm tired of queues, but I'll live with it, if SE were to actually implement it. Perhaps queues could be replaced by a global team-up mechanism... but what if you could globally reserve a spot for einherjar or ambuscade? The server reserves your spot for 5 minutes but only once you have 6 people? ...I'm trying to merge the collaboration aspect with the queue aspect. ....bah ...I can already see how this would be abused :(

I may be in the minority here, so correct me if anyone sees it differently, but I get the feeling that "modern" style MMOs are just not as popular anymore. The younger generation generally isn't as interested in MMOs, and the demographic that enjoys them is aging to a point where they appreciate the challenge that once was.

While this is partially true, young players grind Roblox / Fortnite hard or even harder than any FFXI player ever has and they don't even get any real progression out of it. My son used to play the "grow a garden" game in it and you just endlessly obtain items and grow them, sell them for in-game currency and repeat forever. There is nothing to actually unlock or any level or goal to reach, it is just a treadmill that exists and people play the hell out of it. Hell, Infinity Nikki was extremely popular until they completely up-ended the economy for no reason at all.

I think the grinding mentality is still there (also see any gatcha mobile game) but the reality is that there hasn't been an honest try at a new industry defining MMO in over 10 years. XI is left in its current state because it is a decent revenue stream for very little lift, WoW is...well, its still "there" I guess but it is a corpse at this point and completely unrecognizable.

People also grind the hell out of Counter-Strike for weekly drops too and that requires a 6~10 hour commitment each week depending on how good you are.

The industry just hasn't put up anything worth sinking that much time into in the RPG genre. Maybe they aren't even capable of doing such a thing anymore.

A proper party finder can only be implemented by SE, if it could be done by the community it would have been solved long ago imho.

I'm confident a community solution would handle party assembly well, probably even better than what ever SE could come up with but it can't solve warping to instance entrance and job/loadout change in the process from every place in the world, at least not without risking a ban.

If only someone made some kind of over the top app that would make it easier to find people to play with.

Something that hooked up with XI and let you register interest in an event while doing something else. If enough people sign up, auto-make-a-party with the roles everyone needs to have.

I feel like this discussion is familiar and that we had it before in some other thread. There was a big consensus that it'd either be limited in use to a few people, defeating the point, or it'd get widespread further driving a wedge between the natty and the enhanced players (I've been watching a lot of youtube recently).

Maybe Im exhagerating, but here I go:

At work, there is an app that reserve a bay for a day work. Any employee must book a bay and work there for the day.

Thwre are obviously people who doesnt give a ***about booking, and just sit in the bay physically available regardless if it was scheduled for someone else. But that person is also subjected to be politely asked to leave the bay for the "righteous" person who booked it beforehand.

But last week and today, the app is breaking and I cant book a bay. Im here in a bay but Idk it someone else book the bay.

Seems like minor thing, but it makes me feel vulnerable. And anxious someone angry and ask me to leave.

Only because the damn app is not working.

Seems like a minor thing and it is, but the question is, why I left my home to work at office just to experiment those destructive feelins like vulnerability and anxiety?

The damn app should be fixed asap, I definitively wasted a good amount of minutes just worrird here.
