While it's true that just using a VPN can change your route and avoid problem nodes, there are other potential mechanisms. If you're using the VPN over TCP, any traffic that drops between you and the VPN will be resent automatically. So, if your VPN has a stable connection to SE's servers you can gain stability even if your connection to the VPN is unstable. In that case I'd recommend the nearest VPN to servers(one in Japan).

I used Tartarus Mail recently on one of my mules in Sheol A as a WAR/sam with only about 300JP.

Very limited sample size compared to Martel, but it was this year, The Year of Our Lord 2025, and out of a single Sheol A solo run doing all the mob packs and halo on first floor, and then booking it to the porter up to 5th and onward to the end...

One mob out of 10 every 3rd or 4th pack. Frequent enough to be useful to him, but unable to rely on it to really speed anything up. At the time, other gear was augmented Valorous, so packing nothing special.

Also someone mentioned WAR and DRK dual wielding death swords, but WAR can also wield the Odium dagger, and dual wield iLvl death weapons, if you really wanna give that a whirl (while wearing the death spikes body too!).

I have one test sample on record for Tartarus death spikes from back in 2015. 1,434 hits, with 21 procs. 1.46% proc rate. But the sample size is small enough that this could actually be anywhere from 1%~2% actual proc rate.

Didn't record or control for any macc related factors(Some add effects have a macc check and the proc rate can move within its limits based on that.)

Cloth necks are all extremely good, far-and-away BiS items for their jobs. I've sold almost 300 of them, they often sell instantly and I'm constantly having people request them. Loads of people still using mage strats, especially in Sortie.

Kaykaus gear is insanely good, very-BiS for a lot of jobs and highly in-demand, and generally very profitable.

I've made 7,422,746,700 gil using my Clothcraft shield. Probably significantly more since I farmed a lot of my own materials, but ya know, opportunity cost and all that.

I'm not saying a casual player who plays once/week is gonna quickly make a shield and then quickly turn around billions of gil in profits, but like...when it comes to the kinds of people who are grinding their 1000th title, RoE, and quest completion...we aren't talking about the casual, everyday joes.

I don't, but if you tweak your config, you should be able to send only traffic from PlayOnline/XI apps over the VPN.

Alternatively, or if your VPN doesn't support split tunneling, you can approach it from the destination end of things and specify that only connections to SE's domains go via VPN.

Does anybody have a solution to this that does not involve a VPN? I've tried the VPN but it creates issues with other things that I'm doing in tandem with XI making it an unhelpful solution. This issue creeps up every-so-often and it's very annoying. It's been about 6 months since I've seen it, but now it's back with a vengeance! It used to only happen later at night, but now it's all hours.

My point is the current labelling isn't clear. Most people will be offended by 2d game art made with AI. If you use ChatGPT for some text then have to label AI use it might give the wrong impression that AI was used for imagery even if it was not.

And again, people should be informed if they dont want to buy slop that was written by ChatGPT.

Problem with an AI label is that AI is already and will be used for everything, even if not for direct 3D models or images, even just LLM for brainstorming, making lists of potential names, script, etc. so yeah, it is pointless as one label.
Different labels for "AI was used to write the script" "AI was used to make 2D images" and "AI was used to make models" would be more suitable.

I also wondered that before but I suppose many people did. When apex mobs were relevant maybe there was some combination of death equipment that could have been viable.

That might be what I'm remembering which after I lost it after doing it once felt like a huge waste of time.

Seems like there ought to be a way to get maps if the map works at all. I think someone told me minimap does work for these zones (I don't use that though)
