Crimson desert is cooked too, went from moderate anticipation to DoA:
PS version needs internet connectivity to run
PC version snuck in Denuvo a week before release

Could be because its too new. I have issues on my non-focused screens in certain areas on my 4090, issues I didnt have on my 1080. Literally the only difference was swapping video card, and i can load the 6 chars on my vastly inferior mediabox and theyll run fine in these problematic areas.

Not sure how to explain it, but thems the breaks of playing a 25 year old game on modern hardware.

Anyways, another game for “the modern audience” flopped.
When I came back to XI I too noticed certain areas just don't play nice. First I was on an AMD 6900XT and now I have a 7900XT and same issues. What's real odd is for instance in Port Sandy near the gob box I crawl getting minimal FPS and I get a whine from my PSU. No other game does this as far as I can tell.

Regarding the modern game, I'm assuming Marathon?

Did you fix it?
By Rairin on 2026-03-12 15:22:28
You really have some weird takes.

It's an automated task, or should be. If it's still considerable work, steps could be taken to fully automate it. At that point, since it's just running a script, you're not going to run out of people willing to log in once and run one process.
By . on 2026-03-12 15:18:31
I had gotten a new laptop and regret it. Some reason 6 instances of XI cause it to go insane, and i cant figure out why so I left it and just use my PC. It was over 3k too, and it still does it with other games. Laptops suck now

"Leave him to do it" would just keep all of the burden on one person, so I was asking if there's a way to lighten the load, whatever shape that took. The whole point of a wiki is to crowdsource information and labor.

One person that likes to do it, and feels a responsibility to do it will ensure it keeps being done. 5 people who can do it usually leads to nobody doing it long-term.

There is a lot of this in the community, and it's not a good idea to mess with it. Funk does that, let him do it.

Appreciate the help here all of you! Thanks!
By Izaniki on 2026-03-12 14:36:49
Oh yeah, I wasn't suggesting doing it manually myself or anything. I was just hoping there was a quick way to do it to help out. If it's something that could have a tool made to automate the process, it would be much easier on everyone currently involved (if they don't have one).

Here is a short list of WS that can be used per boss.
I found this online.

B-ThunderHands Impulse/Mumei
C- Kagero/Fudo
D-(varies) Fudo/Mumei
E- Kagero/Fudo
F-ThunderHands Impulse/Mumei
F-WindHands Impulse/Mumei
G- Kagero/Fudo
H- Fudo/Mumei

Funk does that stuff, leave him to do it and if he is busy he will do it the next day.

The issue is never the ability to do things, it's easy for other people to learn to do things. The problem is they will get tired of it in a month or two, and if you annoy the person that does it regular and has a habit built upon doing it there will end up being nobody that does it at all 6 months from now.

Getting Empyrean gear is a great starting point. Unlock mpaca and Nyame gear if you can too. Most starter groups can do ABCD if they follow the strategies listed on this site. Even killing the mini NMs will produce a reasonable amount of galli, and you can respawn them frequently if you've finished the easy bosses and run out of things to do.

Desynthesis kupower is probably more important if you didn't consider it.
Yeah I changed furnishing

I dont see any reference to packet 0x0C in craft's lua though. I also dont see 0x0C referenced in battlemod either. I can mess with it my next batch though and see if I can get anything out of it (or break the game)
By MurielliAsura on 2026-03-12 13:32:12
Its a very good start! I dont play SAM anymore, but there are surely some workarounds gear you can use while getting empy +2 and +3. Im sure you ll find a starting group or 6 bosses pretty soon.

Try to unlock teleports on your own first.

I would also try to understand bosses from videos and reading bgwiki.

Upstairs bosses ABCD. 2K gallis for kill.
Downstairs bosees EFGH. 10K gallis for kill.

Downstairs are way harder and need planning. Cant just rush in do whatever WS you like.

For desynth testing, specifically for spheres no less, you're going to want to read the posts from this year in this thread - https://www.bluegartr.com/threads/135055-Extensive-Desynthesis-Rate-Research
By fatty420 on 2026-03-12 12:51:03
Well first thing I did when I came back was build a masa, which is 119 III atm but im trying to find a sortie group so I can +2/+3 my empy gear, It's coming along
By MurielliAsura on 2026-03-12 12:33:41
Whats your gear? BIS? Close to it? SAM is very good.

Or lv SCH and solo 12-17k everyday.
By fatty420 on 2026-03-12 12:27:45
I mean, it's like I'm not willing to be flexible but it's the one job I have decently geared. I have other jobs I just have to gear them.

I play daily amd am looking to fill my time with doing stuff rather than sit in Mhaura or Jeuno. There must be someone out there willing to take me on as a new ls member or something.

If you're a single box player, the worst thing you can do is sit around and wait for a shout to pop up or someone else to invite you to something. It almost never works, you're a needle in a haystack among the servers. Many players either static, multibox themselves, or organize groups offline via Discord.

You can try the linkshell concierge, grab a few pearls and make friends. Send a few /yells asking to join helpful/new player/veteran player linkshells, someone will bite. Also, get into the habit of reading up on current content, and then forming your own groups. Sortie, HTBF, Odyssey, Limbus, Dynamis - you can probably fill most of these with a few players via shout, depending on the time of day. Leverage all of your options, not just one (ffxiah.com). Not saying you aren't, but it will help you feel like logging in is worth it if you have something to do besides waiting on others to bring you along.

tldr - make friends, start your own groups, join open discords/linkshells

Not on Odin but why would anyone be interested in some one with just sam as a job?
By . on 2026-03-12 11:30:06
Well, I mean. You're not wrong.
By Taint on 2026-03-12 11:28:43
Not on Odin, but you should post your account info and also which other jobs you have or are working on. FFXI is all about flexibility as you probably know.

If you're asking about items that are now in the DATs which are not yet obtainable, that would have to be answered by someone with the ability/knowledge to compare versions to see what is new.

An extremely low effort option is to check windower resources, since they're usually updated faster:
https://github.com/Windower/Resources/commit/23857355a9e1e0e4481efa169222a476d908cb60

a low-code option is to use ashita's resource functions to dump the items to lua.

resourceextractor is also open source.

so, the knowledge isn't really particularly specific and you don't actually even need to know how the dats are encoded to get at the most current ones w/o dev help. but, i'm guessing whatever tool(s) funk uses to update the wiki aren't public and it doesn't seem like the image updates are automatic because some of the limbus stuff took quite a while to get in there.
So, just to check my understanding, resourceextractor would spit out the changes in plain text, then we'd need to either input them all manually in the wiki's formatting or have some sort of tool that would generate it for us after having the text from resourceextractor input?

they definitely aren't, Funkz updated the text on this because it was fixed in this past update:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Beryllium_Tachi
but the image still isn't

Try:

Copy the modded 51.dat file from the zip to the install location of rom/119/51.dat

drag that into texhammer, change only menu gauge to something else (the macro folder), then hit save.

drag it back into texhammer after you save, to make sure it shows that changed image

now boot the game, it should show it if it's in the correct place

make sure you don't have a second install location, or are putting it into a xipivot folder

It should work fine.

Thanks for your continued help. I did all of that and it seems that the macro bar changed as expected but the name text and the bazaar icon did not and stayed vanilla without the HD changes. I repeated the steps without xipivot loading at all and it made no difference, so I don't think that's interrupting. That's kind of odd right? Only part of the dat is being read? I don't really know how this works.

I give up though, I'll just have standard text. Thanks for your help anyways

I wish there was a way to evaluate "how many and how well will X XI run on this"

There's no metric for how well does 6 instaces of ps2 emulation run at the same time U_U

it should have no issue 6 boxing, it's all newest gen midtier stuff

You must understand the future will be compose by dominant dogs, who dominate the AI, and those NPCs that dont even have avatar pic, that will be replaced by more cultured chatbots.

So, if I were you I would be worried by my prospectives
