By the way, if you guys haven't seen the new cover art for the e-book copies of the series, you are seriously missing out.

They blow the original (in my opinion cheap-romance-novel-esque, not to mention wildly incorrect) cover art entirely out of the water.

I love the e-book art...it really does destory the original artwork.

Funny that I stumbled across this, since I was just lamenting the fact that we have like four months until the next book is out... <Q.Q> Love me some WoT!

I like cheesy art on my books... not really sure why though. As long as it isn't too bad

Are those Mistborn books good? Someone recommended them to me, and while I support Brandon's writing of Gathering Storm, I have no idea what anything else he wrote is like.

Would depend what you've read before, and what you like. Have you read Sword of truth series? Shannara books? I particularly enjoy them, along with the Horus heresy warhammer books.

What's the WoT? I'm not a huge book reader but judging from the name and cover art, I'm going to assume stories from different war eras in different places?

How good are they and considering like I just said, I don't read many books as they bore me to *** death, is there a place online I can read them for free? I'm not going to pay for a paper weight lol.

Mmm... They look a lot more accurate on these covers. I agree about the older ones looking like cheesy romance novels; those shirts had far too many billows.

I do wish that they had done something a little closer with Perrin... God knows we heard enough about his inner angst in the first few books, it doesn't really need to be represented on the cover as well <_>.

ah WoT and Robert Jordan
Well for the art it is done by Darrell K. Sweet, who also did the artwork for Jordan's romance novels. Both series were published by tor-forge.

Also, if you think that books 1 and 2 dragged on wait till you get to around book 8...

The payoff is worth it though. The 12th book (co-written by Brandon Sanderson) is the best book in the series so far, imho. He starts tying up loose plotlines from the word go. Jordan had a bad problem with dragging things on unnecessarily long, but thankfully Sanderson seems to be remedying that. Good thing too; it didn't seem like the series was ever going to end.

Well I did enjoy The Gathering Storm, personally I would not call it the best in the series. I tend to not like Brandon Sanderson writing style but, holding my full judgment till the next two books. I think its just the fact that it is just obvious to me its not Jordan writing it even though he is the one who came up with the ending. Have to give major credit on that point, telling the ending to his wife on his death bed. Imagine how bad it would have been if he hadn't, would never have gotten the real ending.

I actually feel Sanderson is making the last book drag on by breaking into 3 books. though that is not his choice only, Jordan's wife is part of that, helps that she been Jordan's editor from the beginning. It seems to be a recurring theme in fantasy series they do tend to have parts drag on.

I Will admit the series does tend to drag on but it seems to be a recurring theme in most of the book series, let alone Fantasy series. Hell looking at collection any of the books that were written as part of a series tend to drag on at one point or another. Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series is a prime example. I love that series also but it does drag on a bit at times.

I am a decent artist in my own right I believe. My limitation is that I only know how to do american comic book (marvel generally) and manga/anime style. I have mentioned before that I am a writer working on first of many novels I hope to finish and while the story is very solid and the characters are very deep and engaging I want to include some artwork like J.R.R. Tolkien's Children of Hurin (revised and edited by Christopher Tolkien) but I feel my artwork is too Asian influenced for a High Fantasy Sci Fi genre novel such as mine is.

Does anyone create artwork like the above posted? Or know anyone who does freelance work? I would like to send you or them copies of my versions of my characters and work out a deal if you do my artwork. My book treatment is 75% complete and I have 3 chapters complete with a soon to be edited synopsis for "agent shopping" and I think some nice artworks would help sell my book. What do you all think?

HELP :)

Ninja Edit: The artwork in The Children of Hurin was done by Alan Lee I beleive, the acclaimed artist behind most of the art production for the LOTR movies and is like the only person to truely illustrate Tolkien's work into art.

Actually like that theyre splitting it into three. Each book has about 300 thousand words in it apparently, 900000 page book? Would be a *** to drag home from town. Plus it allows for anticipation n'***, been waiting a god damn whole year for Towers of Midnight. Though I agree, at around the 8th book, you do wonder if you can be bothered to continute.

lol its more of the fact that give me a break I have to wait another year, frick started reading WoT when Eye of the World was first written in 1990 so yeah I don't need anymore anticipation. Especially with Tower of Midnight pushed back a month, not horrible but still tired of waiting. Been waiting since 2005 when knife of dreams came out.

In my case I normally have more then one book on my person. So the idea of a book that is 2400 pages, rather then 3 at 800. Of course I Would have been happy if all 3 came out at the same time, I understand its a lot of work, and big shoes to fill finishing another authors work.

Anne Rice's vampire books are awesome to read or The Mummy. Dragonlance was pretty good to read years ago when I was a teenager. But if you like more of a lone warrior type stories where beautiful women are slaves and the fighting is pretty savage try John Norman's "Gor" series, they are fairly old books & if you can force your way past the first book in the series (1st one is pretty tame compared to the rest) I think you will really enjoy the adventures & stuff in the rest of them. The Shannara books were very good books also, at least the 1st 4 or 5 books.
