Exact reason why some humans have fun going hunting. They like to kill. It's the only "legal" way to kill. And we eat cats :) Tastes like chicken =D

Law Abiding Citizen made a good point of how broke the American Justice System is . Film is Film but truth can be found in fantasy . Here in CT , the Petit Murders (Cheshire Home Invasion) happened over 3 years ago and they just started the Trial Today . The idea of slow moving justice is to protect those wrongly accused but there seem to be so many loop holes and side steps that even the most guilt are able to get away with crime .
But we're the greatest country in the world . Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness . ha.

Crimes that happened 10 years ago, start the first trial this year. (overexageration here but you get my point)

You're talking about a system where prosecurial behavior makes or breaks trials. A lot of the time there isn't DNA evidence to support it either. At least 39 executions are claimed to have been carried out in the U.S. in the face of evidence of innocence or serious doubt about guilt. My statement is still alot more accurate then yours :/ . Your statment inplys that 40%~60% of the people convicted are innocent. My statement implies that innocent people have been killed by this process. The number or percentage doesn't really matter, the point is that this happens. I'm only saying by supporting the system you have to say it's alright that this happens. And I'm saying you are supporting a system that allows innocent people to be killed by guilty people and for them to be supported for free when we have a huge unemployment goign on right now and people who have commited no crimes to go hungry and starve to death. Hell there are people who commit crimes solely to go to jail and get a free ride. And who is paying for that? Yeah the innocent

I raise a perfectly valid contradiction. Nobody acknowledges or even tries to argue it. They just brush it off as expected, (aw, isn't that cute that Jaerik expects arguments to make sense), and move right on to squabbling for their pre-decided "team." Because winning is more important than having a consistent argument, and no one goes into the debate with the possibility of changing their mind.
And people wonder why both major US parties are so broken.

then of course there's that tainted media who only report on the bad stuff President X does instead of the good things (or don't talk about it as much)

And people wonder why both major US parties are so broken. Maybe we are used to contradictions... I mean just look at the it must be true because you can't disprove it argument some *cough* people use. But bring up other things that can't be disproven and sure enough they don't beleive that.
Besides how is incompetence and ineptness a contradiction for wanting the government to change in some ways? Maybe we view such things as signs of the governments incompetence?

Fair enough. I just wanted to make the point that even tho innocent people can/do die in this system that the system make many safegrads to make the number of these people as low as possible.
And for the record I'm not a suporter of this system (due to the fact that judgement is a flawed conpet in my opinion due to the fact that people have different perceptions. A human can't make a "perfect" judgement on wheather or not a person deserve to die (the fact that we don't even know the meaning of life doesn't help this). we can only make judements based on our own experience and opinions (only god (if he/she exists) can make a perfect judgement (if that is even possible))).

Well, I thought I responded to you. ; ; People seem more interested in deciding whether this person should be killed, rather than question the policy itself. I can understand why some people would be for capital punishment.
If someone you dearly loved was murdered, raped, tortured... to think of someone you cared about having their body abused and mutilated, that person is terrified, alone, and in pain when they die... it's just a very emotional thing for me to think about, Idk about everyone. I think that emotional aspect can make you want justice. The justice of denying the person the same thing they denied someone you loved.
I can understand why someone would be for or against capital punishment, but in my current state of mind, I don't feel it morally right to have the power to deny someone the right to life.

And this surprises you? I've never seen anyone on this site say "Oh, your arguments sound valid. I think I'll re-evaluate my stance on this subject". Not once. The discussions are all one-sided, shallowminded and of particular low quality, with a lot of people using inaccurant information to fuel their ideas.

Tl;DR: This woman plead guilty to charges against her where
she paid a man to kill her husband, stepson, and let one of the murders have sex with her 16 year old daughter. She is to be executed on the 23rd, the first woman to be executed in VA in 100 years.
She is now begging for her life saying she acted out of character and that she thought she was innocent since it wasn't her pulling the trigger.
Can anyone take this person seriously? It says she's border line mentally retarded but even my mentally retarded cousin knows right from wrong. It's really annoying to see horrible people like this try to justify their actions instead of taking responsibility for what they've done.
Before any of you decide to use Mentally retarded as a defense know that being mentally retarded does not exclude you from Mens Rea. She KNEW exactly what was happening, and she knew it was wrong.
Thoughts?
