It would be a *** up jury of 12 people you would need to find in order to prosecute. The child's future is what is important here, I believe this mild belt whooping is going to help this kid get on the right track. Pretending to be banging is a serious problem and much more severe consequences could have fallen on the kid, he is lucky he is fortunate to have a family member that looks out for him and cares this much about him, many people have no one.
not all civil matters go before jury, and no it would take some people who didn't live in the *** stone ages. Pretending to be doing anything is not a problem, grow the *** up. While I agree that the passion is there (obviously) from his family, but they need to get their ***straight, obviously they weren't doing a very good job in the first place if the child was allowed online with free reign in the first place.
This child isn't 8 years old brah, he looks 16 or so. To say his guardians are at fault for what's already happened (we don't even know we haven't seen the videos and we also have no idea how much time has elapsed since said video/s have been posted) is absurd. The fact that they know this happened sounds like they know about what their kids are doing online than most parents, kudos to them.
I don't find it absurd at all, and the videos shouldn't have existed in the first place, but you're right most parents need to be more attentive.

According to which law(s)? Seriously, point out where disciplining your child falls under any law set forth by any state or government.

Wow, you're joining the naive club today Tweeek, I guess.
It would be EASY to pull a panel of jurors to convict this man. The ONLY reason more child abuse and assault cases aren't convicted is because there is rarely any physical evidence of the crime being committed. The cases usually boil down to "he said, she said" affairs which are difficult to prosecute. However, in this case, we have actual video evidence of the crime. A prosecutor would be laughing all the way home if s/he were assigned this case; it's a slam dunk victory.
The child's future is "at stake" you say. Perhaps so, but if you want to get into trying to predict the future, I'd be just as concerned about the uncle's apparent anger/rage issues, and the potential for the teenager to be injured.
I'm not gonna debate anymore about whether you "like" or "dislike" what the uncle did, or if anyone approves or
disapproves of belt-whipping as a parental tactic. The bottom line here is the uncle in this video is an abusive caregiver, and also incredibly dumb for releasing incriminating evidence against himself onto the internet. If the teen, or "the people" (represented by state officials) choose to file against the uncle, he's *** going to jail, for being a criminal.
And frankly, I for one, would completely approve of his jail sentence.

For every one comment calling it abuse there are 10-15 comments that applaud him. So think again.
The man is a criminal, that's a fact. Period. Doesn't matter that I say that. It matters that that's the law, numskull.
Also, I really could care less about comments on those internet sites you mentioned. As I'm all too often reminded of by commentators on this board, the internet isn't real life. People can "applaud" this criminal if they wish. There's been plenty of popular criminals throughout history. They are still criminals.

Listen, dickface. I have children. And they are respectful of their elders, and they are polite, and well-mannered.
And I don't beat them, and never will.
If you have to resort to using your fists or a belt, then you have a lack of ability to use your brain. If you can not think of a more constructive and less damaging means to to discipline your children than beatings, then you are a *** simpleton. And there's lots of simpletons in the world, so you're not alone, and you don't have to feign shame.
Once again you fail to make any distinction between a spanking or a punch in the face. The world is not black and white.
Kudos though on resulting to name calling, it definitely illustrates your point well and makes me rethink my stance.
Do note that I have not resorted to this method yet and hence have not gotten you to rethink your stance.
I hope you teach your kids those sames values, if someone disagrees with you, call them names.

a punch to the face and a spanking are both abuse, while they may be different levels of abuse, they are still very much abuse, they don't deserve much distinction.

If your not from an urban community you won't understand, that man should get an award. Time outs don't work in the hood period. He probably saved his nephews life by doing that. All these kids listen to that rap music and think that bull ***entertainment is real. That kid comes from a decent home but he was all over face book acting like he was gang related. If a rival gang would saw him perpetrating like he was a true gang member that kid could of lost his life over nothing. That boy was as big if not bigger than his uncle do you honestly think he would of listened to a time out lets be serious. That is what you call tough love. When that kid get older and makes something of himself I bet he'll look back at that vid and laugh and thank his uncle for that *** whooping. He might get laughed at in school but he'll get over it and hopefully make it to college. Its good to see that he loves this kid enough to save his life. Fyi he made him post it to let other gang members or who ever know his nephew is not involved with any of that bull ***...so yeah that vid needed to be posted.

oh in his case, it is clearly child abuse, but since I don't know what area they are from I'm not going to go through each state's laws and post them all (as such laws vary by state) although the US is severely behind the times as 21 states (according to linked article above) still allow schools to physically abuse children, shame on you America.

Spanking Laws
May seem a bit biased but the link clearly defines the individual state laws for discipline. Clearly the child wasn't injured so there was no abuse. As for which state the man was in, I'm unsure but I'd say he was well within his legal rights to discipline the child.
If you're against spanking as a form of discipline, that's fine. Raise your kids as you see fit however don't blow things out of proportion when someone does spank their kid. No one told you how to raise your kids and you shouldn't push your ways on others so long as they're within their legal rights.

I tend to agree with Elanabelle. Not on the extremes of what is or isn't abuse (I don't think a well deserved spanking is abuse), rather on the notion that there can be ways around "violent" punishments.
My old man had, what I consider, a great method of discipline. If he got angry at us for misbehaving, he would send us to our rooms (no TV, video games, books, etc.) for about a half hour while he unwound and thought it over. Then he would come in with a little speech explaining what we did wrong and why it was wrong, then he would tell us what our punishment was--it was always fair and never violent.
I grew to respect his judgment and self-control so much that I rarely acted out in ways that would upset him. He was so lenient and understanding that I knew when he got upset, I was absolutely in the wrong.
