lubbock has the wtf weather. hail storms + snow in may. dust storm + rain + dust storms all throughout the year. sunny, hot, tropical, 100+ degree weather, -20 degree weather. was awesome. Can be 80 degrees one day, 40 the next then back up to 75
Blargh... I have a bit of a situation and would like some insight.
So I have a fire service test on the 23rd at a place with higher end pay, closer to home, but it is highly competitive with 800 total applicants, split testing into 400 fire/medic and medic only and 400 fire/EMT (I'm medic non-fire cert, so middle ground). They are non-civil service so they can hire whoever they please. However they are stating fire/medic preferred (so they move to the top of the list) followed by medic only.
If I pass their test and rank high enough I move on to the physical ability test on May 2nd. And that's where I hit a problem.
Another city is having their civil service on May 2nd. They are lower end of the pay spectrum, bit of a commute (about an hour). Still highly competitive, but they are civil service so they have to go in order of testing scores. They are also medic preferred so medics get jumped to the top of the list, but fire cert doesn't matter.
My problem is this. If I put in my application to test for the lower pay job, but then end up having to withdraw my application I get put on probation and am unable to test there for a year. But I also can't guarantee that I will score high enough against 800 others at the other city to actually make it to the physical (though I am a pretty smart cat and tend to test well).
So do I roll both applications and just accept I may get a black mark at one station, or do I just not apply for the second station and put all my eggs into the better overall job? Worst case on the second scenario is the civil service job may not hire again for god knows how long.

Anywho, <3 Texas weather.
Nothing tests your resolve more like 100 degree and sunny winters with a slight chance of freezing your *** off the next day.
I would put applications in both, and take the better job if you pass both.
-if you fail both, oh well
-if you fail good one, take second
-if you fail second, take good one
-if you pass both, can secure the good job and the black mark won't be as excruciating.
I can only test both if I don't rank high enough on the first test. Deadline for application at the civil service job is end of this week.

Or Fall, which is an extended summer where the leaves catch on fire before falling to the ground. Got to love not having to rake leaves! Just blow the ash away!
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
