I've visited TN before, was quite, culturally different...

I may live in the "South" but that's a bit too "South" for me.

Got a free month of Amazon Prime and I'm scoping out their streaming service. Not impressed tbh. Its certainly not as terrible as CBS All Access/Peacock but still. Netflix really does have a huge library compared to its competition.

Every area is different.

You can't expect the same culture in a new area as you live in.

Take Vic and me for example. He lives in Austin and I live near San Antonio. We literally live roughly 80 miles apart.

Both of our cultures are vastly different from each other.

It literally is night and day between us two.

I mean, I don't fault him. Somebody has to live in Austin. I'm just glad it's him and not me.

There's a reason for the quotes. But it's south of the mason-dixon, so.

The cultural line is really the Carolinas jutting out to West Virginia. I found it pretty remarkable how different the two Virginia's are. One group really wants be Southern and the other really does not.

parts of VA are VERY south....others fit the "Mid-Atlantic" description of Northern VA/Maryland/DC feel.

Never forget that almost half of the Civil War Generals from the Confederacy hailed from Virginia. It was their seat of Government (Richmond), and those cultural starts don't just fizzle away. They're ingrained in a population, in a culture.

Nah, its not "Deep South", but then again, most of Florida really isn't Deep South, its New New York.

Study the date at which West Virginia became a separate state and not just a part of Virginia....June 20, 1863. And they did so to join the Union and leave the Confederacy. They are VERY different populations.

Virginians have more in common with NORTH Carolinians and Georgians...and West Virginians are like crazier Kentuckians^^

South Carolina...man I don't know what happened to that place. :)

"The south" is an idea, not a location. It can be anywhere.

Won't argue...but its only in the historical "South" where such culture is the dominant one.

VA... The northern counties are DC suburbs, full of government workers and those business that cater to a dense population.

The northern shore counties are pretty much eastern shore / Chesapeake bay, a farming / fishing and summer beach culture that starts south of Atlantic city and peters out wherever there is a navy base to continue into the Carolinas.

The southern counties are as southern fried as anywhere south of the Mason - Dixon line. This is not to say that southern fried is anything like a unified culture or anything.

That's the SE coast. At least the parts of it that aren't solidly Cuban or Jamaican. It is the densest populated part but a small percentage of the land area.

Central FL and the panhandle are quite southern fried. If anything represents an actual identifiable Florida culture it must be Tampa / St. Pete. No idea about Jacksonville anymore.

Nailed it geographically. I LOVE the cuban/spanish/caribbean influences on food, music, and culture there. Kinda like the Gullah pockets of South Carolina or the Cajun influence of Louisiana. In some ways the South is known for that "southern fried" feel you so accurately nail. But is has long-existing pockets that originate from various pockets of slave culture that survived the beatings and the "whitening" which are so rich in history they rival any old New England settler story.

J-Ville...all I think is a cruddy Naval Base.

Is that Gardenia on the left? I'm surprised they'd make such an obscure figure if so.

Yep, that was a little strange choice I think lol. I tried to find others because .hack was my favorite and I couldn't find Mia or some others that were more popular than Gardenia.

First episode already dropped on the 16th

I mean I'm not paying 12 streaming services for one show each.

This whole new "idea" of 40 streaming services to "replace" cable is literally worse than cable now.

Hit it up on pirate.
