Yes she looks really cute and I congratulate you on that, but you know this and your sister-in-law does as well. Why the need for extra-confirmation via a contest? A few will loose despite having cute children.
I will stick with your brother. I wouldn't want my niece to be viewable by public when she reaches that age (also I have no Facebook account to vote with).

I honestly think my sister-in-law is just bored. She's in Afghanistan at the moment, has been since Addy was very young, working as a nurse on a medevac helicopter for the Army. She can only really see Addy on Skype until she comes home, which won't be for another few months I think. I don't even think Addy remembers her, but she does know her voice from Skype. I think it would boost her spirits a bit for her baby girl to win a contest. Personally, if it was my kid, I probably wouldn't enter her in a contest either. For one, too many crazy people out there who like kids a bit too much, for two, it's just going to embarrass the kid when she's older and all her boyfriends see her baby picture everywhere, for three, meh, I've always disliked beauty pageants because there's just so many better things to be judged on than looks.
But still, I really do think it would give Julie a nice morale boost to see Addy win something. I feel so bad for her, she had to leave when Addy was practically an infant.

I hope it gets finished, I've seen a lot of translation projects stop near the end. My MHP3rd patch has been in limbo for a few months.

Well, reading the posts, it seems like the guy dropped it once already, and this is his second attempt.
Even if he doesn't finish it, I hope he at least releases what he's done so far before he stops.

Is it really that hard to translate from Japanese? I wish I could learn Japanese myself and help but it just seems really really hard >_>

The problem is more keeping the game working than translating it. Japanese characters only take up 1 byte, while English take up 2, so you've got to cut stuff down, but not so much that it doesn't make sense. If the game is too big, it won't play. Or that's what I got from reading the posts. :I

You have to rewrite sentences completely when translating. Its not a 1 to 1 translation changing the words into English.
Japanese takes the form of SOV, while English and many European languages are in the form of SVO, so its more than just changing Japanese words into English ones.
