are you a professional or person that does this kind of job frequently? If so I'd give them a rate.

If not, and it is indeed a friend I would casually ask how much they were offering and if you do accept, do a decent job. If it seems like its too little then its probably a waste of time and just say
"sorry bro, i suck at that stuff"

well~ not sure if this helps but i do logo designs and other side crap on the side mainly for small startup businesses and for various research groups in my engineering department. and sometimes i spend a few hours teaching random people that get assigned to me by my partner to help people learn photoshop and stuff. :| (and i'm a computer science major...wtf)
so like making logos for me~ goes from like $100~300 (that includes creation, all the editing and giving them the rights for the logo and stuff) and for teaching people its like $30/hr (as it covers gas money and just sitting there and helping them)

So iono (others might have a different take on this) but depending on how much editing is needed. Like just doing some simple photo clean up or doing mass cropping etc etc. You should charge for how much work it is and how long you think it will actually take you and convert that into a $$/hour rate. (that's how i at least view it)

I'll remember that, I'll probably do my rate per picture or something (like some set $$ per picture, then some added price per hour, to get my final price)

If I did this, I'd have so much money just lying around right now. I always end up feeling bad at the idea of charging friends and family. This is why I can't start a business of my own. :(

Getting a job doing any sort of IT/Computer Science work is so hard without work experience right now. But I can't bring myself to charge people in a way that would show up as credible work experience. <_<
