I'm flabbergasted by that absolutely dumb *** statement lol. "disc or not, no online, no game"
I can disconnect my ps5 from the internet, put in my demon souls disc into my ps5, wait a few minutes to install to the drive, and play the game. I can do the same with every PS5 game I own except Crimson Desert, which has a day 1 patch to make the game playable (absolute piss poor design).
I took Eiryl's side last time this came up, but the argument that you can use a never-online PS5 to play your discs is somewhat valid. I still think that the difference between a disc and any other DRM-free installer is moot, though.
Random Thought: Maybe it is just me.......but the late 90's ('97, '98, '99) feels like decades away from the early 2000's, although it was only a couple years separating the eras.
Perhaps, it was the jump in tech? Or, maybe the fact we were not dealing with 9's any more........I don't know......
2004 from 99 just seems like time leap (Which was a late 90's movie ironically).
Late 90 I was buying Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya physical copies at the newstand. Both series were done in japan by then, but we were having monthly releases.
I started college in 2006. Then I got my first own desktop. And internet wifi.
But then it was hurting to keep up with the slow pace of Naruto physical distribution, so I looked online, and got up to Shippuden in scanlation.
From that point onward, I never again bought a manga physical copy.
I had the entire first print release of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
Yeah, so late 90 and early 2000 are separated by internet still growing, and internet as something established.
Games can not come on a disc *and* still be playable offline.
That this has to be explained amazes me.
The thing that separates whether a game can or cannot be played offline is if it is an online game. Eg, an mmo. If it's a single player game *and* requires an always online connection or to be online to start, that's purely for non game related reasons.
Gta6 is a good example. There's no reason the single player game should require an online connection. It will, and not because of game reasons. For business reasons.
Steam single player games can be played with steam in offline mode once you download them btw. Xbox live, psn games cannot.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
