Apoc or Ragnarok?
Been arguing with a friend as to which is better, personally i see the Ragnarok being the better of the 2 due to the new GS WS and the increased Crit rate but he seems to think Apoc would fair better on higher level mobs in VW due to the higher DMG, neither of us have either weapon so we cant compare them but thought bout maybe getting one so figured i'd come here for some insight, Thanks in advance.
Ragnarok is the better damaging weapon by a decent margin as far as I know. Apocalypse offers defensive utility if it's needed, but that isn't usually a problem if you have good mages.

I may not have looked very hard but i didn't see anything that i was looking for my bad lol.
Combine them together to get Apocnarok. Kinda funny tho since both spell the end!
If you are going to suggest a job change, at least make it to war or mnk. Considering both of them are superior to SAM and all..

If you have DRK and WAR leveled, do Ragnarok. If you're really passionate about DRK and want to expand the job, however, do Apocalypse. DRK isn't a bad job, but MNK and WAR are certainly the best voidwatch jobs. Smite and ukko exclusively really though, very likely that you have have been playing with bad WARs and MNKs.
WAR beats DRK most of the time.
Yes, I've outparsed really good warriors. Does it happen often? no. I actually outparse vere monks most of the time tho But Ukon warriors are really hard to beat, as long as they'r good. On some fights they pull ahead far too lol Wonder how much the ukko nerf is gonna change that <_>

WAR and MNK are simply stronger voidwatch jobs, you are just being stubborn or ignorant if you fail to realize this. Ukko and smite nerf are both quite minor and won't have a major impact on things at all. WAR is generally the stronger of the two, unless the fight ends before impetus is off.
DNC is the best VW job, period.
Play with good MNKs during ~3min VW fights and then say that. lolparse etc. but our best vere mnk usually comes out ahead or slightly behind our best ukko WARs on Qilin for example. Things like blood rage obviously skew things in MNKs favor though.

The slacking part comes down to people being terrible players or not, which sadly the majority of FFXI is.

Go fight Arch Diabolos or Arch Shadow Lord, you'll remember it exists real quick. He slammed it into my face pretty hard my butt still hurts. As much as I would like to be greedy and give myself a 4 buffer whm DD party, I don't think the rest of my alliance would like that. Kind of neat if you already have a SMN though, but avatars usually end up dying to AOE due to low hp and no pet fanatic's.

The summoner can go in another party, if a second bard or corsair is lacking they do well to fill the slot last I checked with max skill + horn it is about 20% DA. To the OP, Apocalypse if you are doing 1 it is a marvelous band-aid.
