How's the new story line?

So far only 5 very small missions were added, that are no more than mere tiny spoilers of whats about to come.

Can do all 5 missions in like 2h. But probably its best to wait more like a couple of dozen of missions to be released of you gonna lose track of the entire point if you do bit per bit every 2 months.
please link your source on these just being tiny spoilers for what's to come.

you and radial should just talk to eachother in PM and stop posting *** for everyone else to see tbh

I'm trying to find a second job to gear that could fill the gaps of soloable (and party) content for my monk.

There are things (some of the UNM, HTMB etc.) that I can't solo and to which is it hard to find a party as monk. Any suggestions? I'm open to anything.

Two BLUs is a versatile combo, tank + suport is a safe one too (RUN + GEO/BRD), COR + suport should be a bit weaker but more output dmg if you have proper sets for savage and leaden.

If you are sticking on MNK, i would sugest BLU and GEO, GEO when you need hard fights, and BLU for farming purposes (I mean MNK+BLU or MNK+GEO).

I thought Dancing Fullers (Kei) was always 2500 to each person in range, but I'm sure I just got hit for 5000 from a dancing fullers.

Am I just reading the log wrong, or can it really hit for 5000 (or more?)?

It's 2500 for each person in range, including luopons/pets. So two people = both take 5000, two people + luopon = both players take 7500, etc. If your strategy is to solo soak on MNK you need to make sure to dismiss bubbles ahead of time.

That was it exactly. A pet (loupan) was in range so that was it. Yeah, I was trying to eat the dmg with my MNK and HP+ gear.

Thank you!

A good cleaving spot for Aeolian Edge other than Puks and Dragons at #2 in Zi'tah? The puks are wind to me AoE.

Going to try Efts and Bugards tomorrow.

Is Phalanx II's potency from Enhancing Magic skill based on the caster's Enhancing Magic, or the recipient's Enhancing Magic skill?

I was just told it was the latter and that literally makes no logical sense to me whatsoever, but given how spaghetti the XI coding is, it is remotely believable in my mind >>;...

It's always used the caster's skill, just lagged a bit behind Phalanx unless 5/5.

I think '"Phalanx" received +#' will boost phalanx2 if the person being cast upon has those pieces equipped

Phalanx II is the exact same thing as Phalanx I except it can be cast outside of self-target. It's strength is dependent on the caster's enhancing magic skill.

Phalanx+ Gear only functions for self, and does not improve the efficacy on other players. But if a player equips their Phalanx+ gear and has a Phalanx spell cast on them by another player, the Phalanx will be boosted.

Is there a way to mark my PlayOnline mail as read or delete it? I have 3. I assume they're all mails warning me that PlayOnline Mail is being shut down a year ago or whatever... but the service is down, so I can't get in to mark them as read. So I get the little flashing icon in the top right. And while it's super nostalgic for the accurate 2006 experience of having mail that I didn't read, I would not mind taking care of it.

Just wondering if the Defending Ring dropping from Sov. Behemoth coffer is real, and if anyone have any perception if farming it from this route would be faster than spamming shanks.

Thanks in advance

So I got a security job where I just sit for a few hours at a time. It's a really low key gig... some days the building manager will let me do some physical work around the building, but most of the time I 'm relegated to the cameras despite nothing happening.

I want to bring in my laptop to play some FFXI while I'm just waiting here, but I don't want them to see it or know about it. The unfortunate thing is that I have to use their wifi and I'm not sure what they can see through that.

Any chance I'll be able to play it here?

Thanks

Take your phone, use hotspot. One instance will barely touch your data.

It's been a number of years since I've tried to use my mobile hotspot for FFXI... It didn't work back then, but I'll try it again. Thank you.

I got mine from Sovereign. No idea what the drop rate could be though.

This is safest. Whether they monitor their wifi or not would depend on them. A VPN can hide what you're doing, but may be interpreted as something more harmful than gaming if examined. It would take someone pretty anal(or high security standards) for your gaming to be called into question, though.

Also a pretty valid point.
