why is there even an hp bar if everything 1shots you >_>

Lightning Avelyn + Lightning Bolts is still superior to the +15 post-patch, situational depending on your opponent's armor as always. 2100 Souls a shot though! Probably wouldn't be a Soul problem in NG+ where you'd be using it anyway though lol

Ah cuz some forums said +15 vs +5 lightning is mostly a wash with +15 coming out slightly ahead due to damage not being split, but wanted another opinion.

There isn't much in the game that can actually 1 shot you. Poor HP management, or defending poorly, or evading at the wrong time, can get you killed quickly

Dude there are so many *** 1 shot moves that kill me even in NG+ at SL 140 with 1500 HP. does the Hellkite Dragon aerial circular flame move deal fire or magic damage? Cuz I have 400+ flame defense and used flash sweat and it one shots me with full HP.

I've never 1-shot the Taurus Demon before... I'm in complete shock >.>

Started a new game for a STR build, went around gathering soul items and killed off the guide NPC. Got to level 17, 20 STR, 18 DEX, fought the Dark Knight in Undead Burg, it dropped the sword. Killed off Havel with a normal longsword... took about 20 backstabs. The Heater Shield made it easy for me to absorb his attack, I avoided damage completely and didn't get squished which I thought I might. Then I put on the sword, 2 hand mode, killed the defenseless crystal lizard, and entered the boss door. Killed off the two archers then triggered the Taurus Demon to jump down, ran back up the tower and plunged onto him dealing ~1350 damage.

I wasn't really sure if I was going to enjoy a STR build or not, this kinda pushed me the other way, at least for now.

Still in shock that I was able to do that so early, but the weapon is very powerful after all.

It's crazier once you realize you can get 8 twinkling titanite to get to +4 before Blight Town easily.

308 base damage weapon before Quelaag and half way to meeting the +5 upgrade requirements.

I highly recommend the Zweihander or Demon's Great Machete for a strength build. Very few things are more entertaining than stun locking Smough to death. Or knocking off ~15% of Super Ornstein's HP in a single hit.

That's crazy, Kali! I've never had the fortune of getting a BK weapon so early on.


I never really though about that. That's freakin amazing. Not to mention you can even +5 it before Quelaag if you do Great Hollow/Ash Lake once you get down to lower Blighttown.

Nah, you get pushed back the opposite direction your shield is facing. So if you're tilted towards the wall...

Easiest way is to roll through the arrows.

Finally got back to rebuilding my character, just went through anor londo again myself. I miss Darkmoon Blade so much... that spell is a boss destroyer.

I cheat.

I get close enough for them to follow me, i walk back and cut down the path I just took.

Their AI is stupid, so they walk off the edge 90% of the time. I repeat with the one behind me, again, very easy to do, and get the hero soul.

Loving STR build so far, I almost managed to 2-hand plunge the kapra demon... that would of been so satisfying. I got 1 hand tho, took off 75%, then 2 handed and finished it in 2 swings.

STR builds are so crazyyyyy I'm destroying everything. Also just plain lucky I got the sword tho, but still.

I wasn't really after one, but if i were to go after one there are 4 opportunities at the beginning oft he game.

I really want to get the BK great axe from the catacombs, but I'm afraid my luck won't keep up ; ;

If that doesn't drop I'll have to beat the game to get it :| sad

Up until now, my build has felt kind of weak. I've noticed I go tanky from the beginning. Max endurance, get the minimum STR required, get some health, and then do whatever from there. It starts out without much power over all, but it is sturdy. Early on, I'd get one-shotted by Twinks, but now that I'm the one invading with the blue eye orb at lv90, I find that I'm a steel wall. Black Iron armor and Black Knight's Shield make me incredibly defensive against fire, and raising my faith makes me resilient to a few hits of magic damage. Wrath of God, high stamina, a safe weapon, and high defense gives a nice edge in a fight.

Actually no wait, I lied. I did get the BKH from the Black Knight near the Grass Crest Shield early on... on my Sorcerer playthrough -______-

I apparently had lag issues for a bit and targeted a moved target. That last swing I made would have killed them if I hadn't misjudged the distance. :<

Forgot how silly it was to PvP late at night. Dat JP player lag. Got hit so many times like 5 seconds after the 'hit' had happened. I mean, i still won most of them, but it was still annoying as hell.

I've also found I can't PVP decently with a mid roll. I rely on rolling too much, I end up eating Dark Bead and WotG all day because mid roll is difficult to time for them.

I suppose I could tank with a Crest Shield up, learn parry timings and just obliterate people that way.

But meh, I enjoy rolling around and stabbing people with my Ultra Greatswords too much. Trying out different armor combinations to find something awesome looking. For a female character anyway.

Im 360 onry or I would PvP you Raenil. Granted I'm probably not that fantastic at it, but I'd give it a go regardless haha.
