I doubt SCH will work the same way because you dont have a dismiss macro to go back to your home page, but you could still do the same thing with a blank macro, wherever you want it.

Say: alt+0 goes to a home page, then on the home page you hit alt+1 for buffs, alt+2 for cures, alt+3 for nukes, etc.

The macros work the same as the SMN ones: /macro set 1 for the first one, and so on. Put things wherever you want, and put the shortcuts to the "home page" wherever you want, in the same spot everywhere else.

For my part, I find it easier to just ctrl+up or down to go back and forth between pages as needed, since it's more complex than SMN

Newbie question but does level of SC matter for helix MB damage?

Deciding if I should just stick to 4 macros (Fusion, Frag, Dist, Grav) to cover all elements, or 8 tier-1 SCs.

Level 2 skillchains have a longer MB window and does more damage, so it's well worth using them over level 1. The only time you use level 1 is if you're keeping the skillchain damage as low as possible for some reason.

I'd stick with the four macros until there ever comes a point where you need a tier 1.

EDIT: Just to correct myself before someone else does... Level 1 and 2 skillchains have the same 10-second MB window, but you typically end a level 2 skillchain with Helix (T1). This gives another 2 seconds to the MB window compared to a normal elemental spell.

Or on targets where you want to avoid specific elements and want to focus exclusively on one.
Level 2 have two elements, let's not forget.
I doubt it matters for any real content. I know it used to be a point for us in our early 8boss mage setup Sortie runs. On Gartel we wanted to use Lv1 Skillchain to avoid dealing magic damage from a "wrong" element.
I seem to recall at least?
That was a long time ago so I beg your pardon.

I think similar to skillchains the Magic Burst window is also reduced by one second for every continuation of the skillchain. so a 2-step skillchain is 10s, and a 3-step should be 9s, etc.

I only have 4 normal skillchain macros myself + one long skillchain macro for certain content (Bumba).

dealing very low damage in the skillchain can be useful.
Same for feeding as little TP as possible for it.
this is for those who really want to min/max.
