The data you guys posted over the last 2 pages kinda surprises me.
If resolution has a weak spot, that's at 1000TP. It has a huge jump from the 2000 anchor point onwards, I don't see how Dimidiation could do better than Reso in such situations. Unless your attack is insanely low maybe and Reso's att penalty is hurting you.

The best scenario I can see is Dimidiation > Reso somewhere under 2000 (close to 1000) and Resolution > Dimi the higher you go with TP.
The data you guys posted shows kinda the other way around and that makes no sense to me unless, maybe, we're talking about situations with your attack being very very low.

Right now it's looking like 2.25 @ 1000, 4.5 @ 2000, and somewhere between 6.5 and 7 @ 3000. Highly doubt fTP transfers but I'll check when I'm done.

Is it two hit then? Really seems to be so and probably typical 1.0 ftp on each extra hit.
Siren.Kyte said: »
It says 2 hits on the description. Why do I keep seeing people debating this.

Because there are several ws's that say one thing but are different. With SE you never assume help text is 100% accurate. "Two fold attack" could mean two hits, one hit that does more damage, or something entirely different.

1) It isn't a elemental, hybrid, or otherwise non-physical. The description would have said something about being elemental if it were elemental or hybrid and the provided list of WSCs pretty much ruled out that it was an Atonement counterpart.

2) It isn't a hand-to-hand WS

So there's no reason not to take the description for face value that it's a 2-hit attack. Having either differing or transferring fTPs on the hits doesn't change that and is a separate issue entirely.

Look up shark bite. Exact same wording but its one hit. There are a few others where "fold" is used to reference a high ftp value. Seriously pull your head out your a&& and stop trying to one-up people.

Shark Bite is two hits, lol

fTP in weaponskill descriptions is never referred to as an "x-fold" attack. For example, Sidewinder = "deals quintuple damage", Slug Shot = "deals quintuple damage", Torcleaver = "deals triple damage", Tachi: Fudo = "deals double damage".

Viper bite refers to neither fTP nor number of hits; "Strikes with twice the attack power" literally means that it doubles your attack.

Iirc there was an update a little while back that revised all of the "incorrectly" labeled descriptions.

You're not optimizing damage anyway if you're holding onto TP until you hit 2000-3000. Who cares if a 3000 Reso beats a 3000 Dimi, when 3x of either one at 1000tp sure as hell beats both?

I guess if you want to build a set for that opening 3000 tp WS when you stored TP for some NM, fine. Or if you're trying to top a Voidwatch parse LOL. Reso looks like it's a DRK WS now, for the most part.

With the increase in fTP at 2,000 and 3,000TP being so large now, holding TP passed 1,000 can't be considered "not optimizing damage" as a blanket statement anymore. Overflow has more value than it ever has, and holding to a certain point can indeed be optimal.

That's the unescapable paradigm we've been living with for the past 10 years.
But according to some incomplete and ongoing data on BG forums, it seems that Resolution *MIGHT* be one exception to this paradigm, as in it might produce more damage to purposedly holding a bit (how much?) of TP instead of shooting at 1000.
Follow the discussion if you're interested, results are still uncertain atm.

Tbh I'm still skeptic Dimidiation > Resolution even at 1000, but what I was trying to say with my post is that I could see that happening, possibly.
What seemed odd to me is that the tests I've seen over the last pages here seemed to hint at the opposite, Reso > Dimi at 1000 and Dimi > Reso at higher values, which seems very very very unlikely to me, given the insane values Reso reaches at higher TP points.

What kind of buffs are required for that? My 1000~1500 WS (either Dimi or Reso) are certainly doing WELL more than 1/3 of a 3000tp Reso (more like a 1000tp WS doing in the neighborhood of 50% of a 3000tp). I'm skeptical that something like SC damage from RUN could close that gap.

As for Dimi/Reso in general, my own observations over the past few days using both WS a lot is that Dimi is consistently beating Reso in 1000~1500tp WS on a variety of targets with a variety of buffs. Solo with trust BRDs, small groups in WKR, a couple 6/6 OKR skirmish with Ghorn BRD, with and without RCB, etc. For me they've been pretty close at 3000tp.

FWIW, my Dimi set is nearly identical to Proth's set on previous page (only difference is I've been using ele belt instead of Windbuffet, I have STR augment on Uk'kaj). My Reso set is also very similar (differences are Qaaxo B legs, Rajas instead of Pyrosoul).

Another note, if you're really looking into 3000tp WS, remember that TP Bonus Moonshade isn't doing anything any more. Be better off switching to Bladeborn+Steelflash or something.

Have a question aimed at anyone that may have tanked Marjami's Delve II. How do you reduce damage from the Harpeia? Ravenous Wail basically obliterated me. Is it physical damage like the wiki says, or is it some sort of magic or breath damage? I wasn't main tanking it, and was just a support/utility DD subbing SAM. Do you mitigate the damage from some of its moves with shadows /nin? Just not sure how you could survive it without an Epeolatry if it is physical damage. I was able to withstand wings of woe spams pretty decently, but Ravenous Wail obliterated me with 2.5k damage. Has any group found out any way to proc a !! on it?

Some more comparative data for Dimidiation and Resolution.

This is on lv113~116 mobs in Ra'Kaznar. Each weaponskill got 100 samples before I switched to the other and reset the parse. This is all with standard play, no special test considerations besides not using Reso beneath 30% mob HP. RUN/SAM and buffs and stuff didn't change at all, always 1xMinuet only, no food or any other attack buffs.

Dimidiation: 3536avg
Resolution: 3662avg

Worth noting that I'm never going to XP on RUN again. :D_

SAM DPS over a 2h parse: 725
BLU DPS over a 2h parse: 697
RUN DPS over a 2h parse: 447

yes.

yes.

What did you expect lol. RUN isn't exactly an A rank DD but it has it's uses in some fights, especially if Valliance and One For All is effective for that NM. Not having any form of attack buff puts it in the same category DRG was before SE buffed that job.

I'm less surprised at how poorly RUN performed and more surprised at how similarly SAM and BLU performed tbh. My SAM and BLU are both nearly maxed out on pre-mythic weapon gear so it's not even like BLU had an advantage. Anyway I digress, it's off topic. What we've learned here is Dimidiation isn't much worse than Resolution during normal play, the extra Light SCs probably make up for the loss in average damage from it. Likely changes if you get more attack buffs, but I'm not testing it.

/lockstyle swag bro.

You've probably seen me running around in Runeist/Runeist/Crimson/Crimson. I like the trim on the coat matching the legs. White sword, white hair. 'Murica.

Curious about this as well, altough I think we only have a tentative new formula and not a 100% accurate one yet?

Another question. Does the "cure potency RECEIVED +X%" effect work with Wild Carrot from /BLU?
I know Cure Potency, MND, VIT and Healing Magic do work, wondering about this other one.

I have a few items I could add to Buremte Gloves for Wild Carrot but... that would mean takin them out from my mules and remembering to take them off my mog case whenever I jump on Rune, lol >.>

I remember some time ago they changed the cap of the "cure pot RECEIVED".
Cure pot caps at 50%, and then the received one had another separate cap.
There was a post on the official forums.

Anybody remembers the details?

Cure potency 50% and Potency of cure received 30%

combined cap is either 85% or 95% I believe

Every theory we've been able to find about it has been soundly tested to be ***. I'm interested if anyone has something that works.

As it stands we've decided "being lucky" is the best strategy if you're dead set on fighting it and not beading it. We've got a couple ideally-geared paladins in the shell and it decidedly obliterates them just like everyone else.

Looks like pld/run...

Only see the TP one to two times a fight, wonder if Run/xxx can put up Liement and absorb it.

So is it a wind based breath damage, then? I still think there's some sort of way to !! it, as our group !!'d the Plagevein Bats the other night (we have no idea what triggered it). I'd assume if a way to !! it was found, it may not use Wail or the damage wouldn't be quite as disgusting. I don't think Rune Fencer gets quite as much breath damage taken - as paladin does, does it? I know that scherzo also doesn't work since it's a multi-hit attack, I guess.

I've tanked Harpea a ton as RUN/BLU and as long as I have 3 Gelus runes up with Valliance / Valation and Baraero I rarely take more then ~1000 damage from it.

yep you can absorb it.

I was almost at full health and I didn't want to risk taking the brunt of the move. Turns out it can be absorbed by Liement and Gelus.

I never tried to Tank Podarge yet.
Question for who did: how fast does Ravenous Wail activate? Do you have enough time to press a Liement macro? Or to setup an automated script that activates it whenever it receives the packet of "Podarge readies Ravenous Wail"?

You should have more than enough time to pop off Liement with a JA macro. Marjami is pretty easy on Run/xxx.

You would probably take less damage if you had ice runes up rather than wind.
