Is there a way to see when debuffs inflicted by your pets wear off? An addon or gearswap code or something? I don't think it's an issue with my chat filters, but I'll feel silly if it is.

Nothing chatlog-related, unfortunately.

I have such trouble with the effect testing because you never see a wear duration to reference macc level to resisted duration.

If you inflict a status on your pet (i.e Reward's additional Regen Effect), you'll see the "effect wears off" in the chatlog.

If an enemy monster inflicts a status on your pet (Sleep/Stun/Amnesia and countless other enfeebles) then you're unable to tell exactly when the effect wears off based on chatlog alone.

If your pet inflicts a status on an enemy monster (Defense Down/Silence/Stun, etc) then you're unable to tell exactly when the effect wears off based purely on the chatlog.

I was wondering if anybody ever discussed MH and OH best options according to what are nowadays' main roles for BST.

I'm sure there are more, but I could think of these different scenarios:

1) Master Physical damage
2) Master Magical damage
3) Pet Physical AoE damage
4) Pet Magical AoE damage
5) Pet Physical fTP transfer damage

For these different scenarios, which would be notable combinations of MH and OH? I'm of course leaving Naegling out of the scenario (we all know it would be, sadly, one of the best options for #1)

1) Master Physical Damage

2) Master Magical Damage

3) Pet Physical AoE damage

4) Pet Magical AoE damage

5) Pet Physical fTP transfer damage

have a question about bst pet stats:

i have my empy +3 feets, which gives 60 acc/macc/racc

i also have gletis feets which gives +1 level and 50 acc/macc/racc

which is better for general use? for ready moves? is the one level beating the additional acc from empy somehow?

level+ is generally always the way to go in terms of acc/macc, also gives some amount of atk which you dont get otherwise, ready dmg+ aswell iirc, there's some posts further back from falkirk on previous pages in regards to pet level+

^ this.
Altough tbf I'm puzzled when it comes to magic ready moves.
I assume level+ might end up giving some Mab as well? Or does it?
Never seen proper tests for that specific stat.

You do get macc which I guess might end up indirectly raising your damage, but when you don't care about it, how does it compare with pure mab?

For instance I went the Acro route for head, legs and feet, augmented with Mab+25, Call Beast -5 and Pet DT.
Using Udug for body and Empy+3 for hands.
Which also brings me to the question on how TPbonus+700 compares to Mab+25 because I'd be leaning to say the latter wins but I probably went with Empy+3 just to save inventory space I guess, knowing me.

Hi everyone! Never played BST before, but I'd love to use it for cleaving. What kind of merits and gear should I be looking for to accomplish that? :3

cricket out of the box with literally zero gear can handle zi'tah effortlessly. that's untrue. merit beast affinity and relic hands augmented (any ilevel version)

focus on capping sic/ready delay reduction, then add in pet attack to move to higher level areas.

I've seen reference to WAR pets natively having the Fencer trait.

Do PLD/DRK pets have native Undead/Arcana Killer and if so, does that work with Killer Instinct?

I wish the search function worked proper as i know this was asked before(by me i think...) and the answer iirc was no, the drk/pld pets dont get their respective killer traits just the family traits of the mob

So I did some quick and dirty testing on skeletons in Eldieme. Small sample size so I wouldn't draw conclusions on the percentages, but Edwin definitely has some form of Undead Killer. It does not appear to work with Killer Instinct though.

With JovialEdwin (PLD) out and a skeleton attacking me:

  • 0/100 attacks intimidated - no killer gear

  • 0/100 attacks intimidated - Killer Instinct active

  • 5/100 attacks intimidated - Ankusa Helm +4 equipped (killer effects +5)

With JovialEdwin (PLD) out and skeleton attacking pet:

  • 13/100 attacks intimidated

Slightly related on your Killer Instinct - Killer Trait extension. I tested at least part of that last year and came to the conclusion that Killer Instinct only applies to Killer Traits from monsters in Ecosystems 1 & 2. I was never able to get an intimidation using the test below, although I am certain the pet had the "Demon Killer" trait.

Can Killer Instinct be used with a charmed pet? And if so, would it be possible to charm a Puk, use Killer Instinct and give everyone in range Demon Killer?

Falkirk might have some ideas, but I have struck out several times trying to test this.

First, you need a zone where both charmable Puks and Demons exist. I tried Abyssea-Vunkerl and apparently abyssea monsters are immune to charm. Ended up going to Escha-Zitah (This is the only zone I could find where both Puks + demons exist, but lmk if I missed one and I can try again). Had to remove my 3 Killer Effects Vorseals (because Trusts get them too), then re-zoned, and then summoned two tank trusts. Went to Escha-2, charmed a Puk, then went to 6 south and popped Revetaur, a Tauros (demon) NM. Engaged and let AAEV/Valaineral take hate, then disengaged. Killer effects are nerfed vs NMs (10%), so it's possible that it just never procced, but for the entire 3~minutes Revetaur was wailing on them, I didn't see one intimidation effect. Wanted to be sure so I repeated the process and never saw an intimidation for the entire duration (didn't bring Relic helm).

Went to test if charmed pets' can activate Killer instinct at all, so I went and grabbed a monkey, then popped Killer instinct, went to fight a Tarichuk (lizard) and let trusts hold it for a few moments. Got several intimidations in a few seconds, so it does work with charmed pets. So unless something in particular is going on with Revetaur NM (like maybe Tauri areimmune to intimidation, idk), I think it's more than likely that the killer effects gained from killer instinct bonus only applies to Ecosystems 1&2.

By the way, charmed pets immediately despawn in Escha when you pop a Gaes Fete (Confrontation effect). Also, I managed to charm pets in Escha but then had to hop on a call, bathroom, do work etc, looked back at my computer and noticed almost a 30 minutes later the monster was still charmed. Didn't use Familiar. Don't ever recall normal monsters staying charmed for that long, and I didn't wear any specific Charm+ gear.

I recently started building my Bst again but I found difficulty just placing my Bst into a useful position. Right now, I use the sheep for 9min of buff then change to the slug for defense debuff.

The problem is that it's okay-ish for dealing damage but I take too much damage back. I off load some of it to the pet but the short time to kill mobs make Snarl not as useful. This becomes a bigger problem when trying to earn exemplar points. My Bst had to tank a bit. I am thinking of changing to the lynx for straight up at bonus and no defense problems.

Second is my WS. Right now, I like Guttler a lot. 10% atk bonus and self skill chain. It does around 22-25k solid. I am working on Tri-Edge since decimation was a little too disappointing for me. Maybe I didn't have the right gear. No other ultimate weapon.

So my question is does getting a prime weapon help Bst? Or should I just stick to Tri-Edge+ Calamity? Second, should I dual wield or just go /war and get berserk and double attack?

This is normal for BST. It's not a very strong DD compared to other jobs because the job is "BaLAnCEd" to account for the pet.

Just use the Slug and call it a day. Solves your defensive problems because you apply -33% attack down, and you get -33% defense down, which is bigger than Lynx's +25%. Unless you're killing too fast for Charges to not be ready, then Lynx and call it a day.

Guttler is solid. Can chain off other Axe WS, but 2-step Darkness is easy and reasonable for BST since Relic WS does not scale with TP. Decimation is good but it depends on your attack. If you're underbuffed and not making a multistep SC (Decimation > Smash Axe > Decimation x2), I find Dolichenus to be weaker slower than Guttler.

Of course getting a Prime weapon will "help" BST, it's the best Axe for physical damage in the game. However, "help" is relative. The Axe shines most when you are at max buffs/attack cap. It's not going to be remarkably amazing, but definitely better than Guttler for an easy 3-step SC. The real issue is, BST is slow AF meleeing double axes. So damage is never going to feel like other jobs, even if you offhand Ikenga's Axe/Fernagu, or Kraken Club. Going /war for Berserk is fine, but that's still kinda slow too. IMO, you're experiencing exactly what BST is as far as solo DPS, slow and clunky and not amazing. It's relatively the same in a party setup, but it allows you to play BST which is the point of it all. So your experience sounds exactly like how playing modern day BST solo normally sounds.

I go to Bibiki Bay to EP my Bst on Dhalmels. I have stage 4 axe. I use the TP set recommended but also 2 moonlight rings or I take too much damage, too much healing and the trusts go all in on refresh.

I do have stage 4 axe and it does really good damage, especially with self skillchain. Sometimes I miss the window for skillchain because I get a refresh buff from trust. The snapweed could help me with that but I inevitably pull links and my pet gets distractes so that's not 100% reliable.

I'm not a fan of using GenerousArthur for EP because his moves are aoe and most of my camps I'm surrounded by mobs and I don't want to have to wear pet dt gear. I want to do damage and kill.

I don't have Axe Prime, but for your use case, I would use VivaciousVickie and do Sweeping Gouge > Blitz > Blitz > Blitz > Blitz. Sweeping Gouge applies -25% defense down at the start of SC. Should kill any Dhalmel (Impaction > Liquefaction > Fusion > Light). You won't get to use Killer Instinct or any of the Pet's Attack buffs, but with Sylvie's Fury/Frailty, Koru's Dia III*, Qultada's Chaos Roll (*Light Shot) and the -25% Defense Down from Sweeping Gouge, should be attack capped (or close to it). Can sub DNC and use 1 Box step for 5% more, total of -63% Defense Down.

Sweeping Gouge is 1 charge, so it's always available. Can even pop Zealous Snort for the Counter (and remove the Haste so Koru will re-Haste II you for 5% higher).
