because people are afraid of having their motives questioned, especially when new, untested, and are not well known to the community.
Also, as a personal thought being made public... I would worry more about proving yourself to the community rather than the modship...

I wouldn't have know about these shenanigans if I hadn't popped into FFXI side to look up someone's avatar. That's honestly a limitation on the forum news, there isn't a news section for both FFXIAH and FFXIVpro

Random person suddenly becoming mod when we have literally 0 admin presence, means only that she has become very friendly with one of you outside of normal forum interactions since they literally only post in RT (also not good for a general forum mod huh) Can you guys read PMs? thats honestly all I want to know because both of you seem like the types that would just for being creepy dudes lol :^)
