Well, both of the information I have posted come directly from Niantic, if that is worth anything :P

Anyone else getting "Excellent" catches, but not getting the experience bonus?

I've managed 3 Excellent catches this week, and only got the initial 100 base experience. When I manage a Great or Nice catch, I get those bonuses.

Yeah, from what I'm reading now on one of these sites (geek.com) has the update:

Quote:
“We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokémon got into a few accounts when they shouldn’t have. To preserve the game’s integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokémon from the Trainers’ accounts.”

Blood, I think Moq just posted that, which Niantic confirms is a bug.

I believe the legendaries being sent out via 1km eggs is probably real. There are many conflicting stories, but now they are confirming it. The emails, the gameplay, everything. And the reports from players of Niantic removing the pokemon seems to coincide with the comment Moq posted.

It's entirely possible that Niantic goofed again (or did they) and inadvertently released pokemon via eggs. And then when it became public, they went back and cleaned up their mess.

Kind of makes me think, if they accidentally sent me an egg, I'd probably just keep my mouth shut and walk away with my spoils.

I'd keep my mouth shut if I got myself an Articuno or Zapdos from a 1k Egg.

Moltres, I'd ask them to take back since it's not worth the one candy lol

I think you'd get more than 1 candy for hatching a moltres, but nonetheless, double weakness does suck on a pokemon.

Not talking about the hatching, I meant more turning it in to professor willow or w/e his name is.

That goes back to "Is there even a 1km egg in the data files?".

When I first read the story on an article, It was said there that in the gym was a Vaporeon in its spot and the owner used "Pokemon Go MITM" to show it as an Articuno. That's a bit harder to disprove than a 1km egg. If 1km eggs are legit, they'd be in the .dats; simple confirmation.

Jiko, if you can find the source of the egg data, I'd love to see it. spent a good portion of the day today looking, and nobody seemed to have been able to crack that data post-update, from what I can find.

A lot of people have been saying that the 1km eggs don't exist because we'd have found them out by now, but its also plausible that they were reserved for a future event and got released inadvertently. If you can show me the dats that only say there are 2km, 5km, and 10km eggs, then I'm with you. Until then, though, nobody has confirmed or debunked the idea of a 1km egg, which also leaves open the possibility of other distance eggs.

To my knowledge, the only egg data I have seen posted online is the potential pokemon that could be hatched from eggs, but this was pre-update. And the only egg ratio data I have found was testing done on the percentiles of each species spawning per egg (this was used with a bot). For all we know, the confirmation of 2km/5km/10km eggs only is merely because that's the only thing we've received from stops, thus far.

I still hold the idea that 1km eggs are something they will probably release when they roll out Pokémon Centers at stops.

Even with Pokevision and other radar sites down, I've still managed to find some pretty good areas with a few of the rarer to find pokemon in my city, though no one has really been sharing that information.

With the exception of one area, Eeevees across the city are incredibly rare. As are Meowths, Clefairy, and Jigglypuffs.

And I think my brother managed to catch a Tauros at work a week ago, but no one else he or I know have even seen one. I saw a silhouette of one a few days ago, but I missed it.

I'm not denying its existence and I don't know, but I'm highly skeptical of it. As I mentioned before, I feel had it been in the game data, somebody surely would have came across it by now.

For me, personally, I don't have the tools to search the game files, nor would I even know where to look.

I randomly stumbled onto an Onix nest today while playing. Was quite surprising.

I am about to get to bed for the day. A bit more than 24 hours without radar, I went out today and felt like a savage, just all blind and just catched fodders. Anyway, it *appears* that they will crack it soon, let's hope! Latest update for the day:

source.

(P.S.: I have no idea how will I ever achieve level 26... now with this escape rate and without radar is like... I only got 15k-ish exp for the day, and being out walking like mad for some hours).

That's a good snorlax. Lick was nerfed, but Hyper Beam was buffed greatly, so you'll be fine.

I figure he could be my great slayer of Psychic pokemon, could work on Ghosts too but I don't see too many of them.

My town however is full of Drowzee so most gyms tend to have a Hypno.

Drove into the small town near where I live last night to stock up on pokeballs. So while I'm waiting until the pokestops refresh after 5 minutes, and out of nowhere, a dragonite shows up. Ended up catching a 1965 dragonite with dragon breath / dragon pulse after about 15 ultra ball throws. Sadly, its only 45% perfect IVs, but still definitely can't complain.

Niantic really needs to change the radar to include the rarer types of pokemon now though. The dragonite didn't even appear on the radar even when I was about 30 steps away from it. At this point, its pretty much blind luck to run into the rarer pokemon because they don't show up on radar till you're literally right next to them.

Blind luck is one thing. Another is the fact that Anna was right about the 5+/10 second respawn on new pokemon. I noticed it the last few days, since Niantic forced the new update on every user (I got a message yesterday saying I could not play until I updated the game). On my last few days home from work, I stopped at several places. After about 10 seconds or so, about 5 pokemon just popped up out of nowhere. This happened a couple times as well.

It used to be where as soon as I approached a pokemon, they appeared. Now it seems you have to wait a few seconds for the server to refresh. That could really be bad for bike riders who ride quickly past an area before the server can refresh, which is really dumb.

A few key changes I noticed from the update that haven't seen mentioned:

- the "Nearby pokemon tracker" isn't just unreliable, its flat out wrong
-You can no longer click on pokemon to have in your tracker and focus on them (though I have no idea what the purpose of this was for)
- They added in re-throw delays, so you can't trick the game into giving you nice/great throws like before
- Curveballs/Nice/Great/Excellent do not always give you the bonus.
-There have been cosmetic changes to the sprites and the pokeball
-The view of AR mode slightly differs occasionally, instead of the same background. I have seen the trees in the background in a slightly different position than before (could just be me not noticing this earlier)
-Pokémon can run away in multiple directions, not just left and right
-The trajectory on the curves have been altered. I lost about 7 pokeballs trying to catch a Venonat, and it took me a while to realize it was the trajectory that had changed with the update.
-fodder Pokémon above 100CP are sometimes not even worth the trouble catching. So Pidgey/Rats are pretty much a waste of pokeballs. Much easier to catch weedle/caterpie.

I wouldn't call it a waste of pokeballs; not counting great/ultra, I haven't been below 50 poke balls in a while. I'll throw 5 balls at that pidgey without hesitation and regent them back 5 minutes later from a stop.

I have just started ignoring pidgeys and throwing at weedle/caterpie. They have a much lower escape rate, and they tend to have lower CP so less of a chance of escaping also.

Rats are certainly a waste of pokeballs, unless you're catching everything nearby for stardust and minor exp.

Some people don't have the luxury of getting frequent pokestop visits, so we have to be frugal with our catches when we can.

To whoever wants to know the non-technical status of the radars, you can watch this new reddit thread. Of course, the old one is still there but the new one is a live feed.

So, I just read this post from Niantic and I have mixed feelings.

Of course, I like and love this Pokémon GO. I have walked 250 km since I started playing two and half weeks ago and have had tons of fun locating and catching the critters. BUT the "locating" part is essencial for me. I don't find fun in just walking around and finding Rattats and Pidgeys everywhere. I loved the fact to scan the area where I was walking and then when a Pokémon I wanted popped, rush there. Now it has been taken away with the radars and the game hasn't been or feeling the same the last couple of days.

So, Niantic claims the efforts to stop "third party access" are diminishing the ability to roll out new changes and enhancements to the game, but I am not so sure about it. Would Niantic provide us with a mini map with pops 100 meters around you? I highly doubt it.

PERSONALLY I hate bots that automatically play the game for you and just connect, go and level by themselves and catch strong Pokémon, but I guess there are people who enjoy that (?) so, to each their own. I also am very against GPS fake location (hey, the core of the game is to MOVE, right?) and absolutely despise people who use bots to get high level accounts and then sell them.

Anyway, for me playing Pokémon GO without a radar is like playing FFXI without Windower. It just can be done, but isn't functional / enjoyable at all. I really hope there is a good conclusion to this.

A chart without values is pretty irrelevant, they make it appear to have reduced queries by 2/3 which is definitely a good enough reason to hose the apps, but it could have been a much, much smaller value if the baseline there isn't 0

assuming they left the scale out on purpose because they didn't want people to be able to see that it was relatively minimal
