Also they should throw us a bone and give us a free daily Moglophone II. Hell, they should be cheaper too.
Wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe allow players to earn a Moglophone II just by touching the Goal at the end of any of the 3 Sheols per week. One for each zone, so you can go "Free" once per week just by traversing the zones, in addition to whatever Segments you earn as a result. This would heavily incentive doing Seg farms in lower zones too, and you'd make money, segments, and get credit towards a free entry to Gaol. Or something like it.

"We just found our new gold tier reward for next Vana'bout! A consumable item that grants one(1) Moglophone II. We'll give them 3 of them as a reward. Like how everyone enjoyed their 3 Ebers Earring +1s when opening their cases."

They already did give out 10,000 segments reward from Vana'Bout not long ago, if I'm not mistaken.

They did, and its been an available reward in VanaBounts round 3 to 8.
(10k segs is a shitty top-tier reward)

I totally forgot that we had to do V5/10 clears. Yeah, you should be able to skip directly to V15.
Also they should throw us a bone and give us a free daily Moglophone II. Hell, they should be cheaper too. Weren't Salvage permits 3k assault points originally? People wouldn't be hesitant to go back and help if it was practically free to do so.
Free daily Moglophone II sounds like another decent campaign for Odyssey.

A weekly RoE for this like the free Seal would be pretty spiffy. I don't think we really need more than one. Maybe rotate the Sheols.

I said one for each zone per week, because if it was 1 Moglophone II once per week, it'd take a person 3 weeks to gain access to one Gaol. Even One entry to Gaol per week is a small thing, but it would be a lot better and encourage someone to actual do the lower Sheols for a free Gaol entry chance. Its basically 9k free segments a week, at the cost of 10 minutes of climbing to the goal.

With how hesitant newer players are with the content and the ridiculous amount of FUD from wannnabe elitists, I think you might be right. It would encourage (or possibly even enable) more people to at least make one go at it a week, or more likely to help others.

I'll go further and say what'd be bad about getting a free Moglophone II every time you got to the end of A/B/C? What's the harm?

Knowing SE, you'd only be able to get one if you have less than 3 Moglophone IIs, forcing you to use at least one of them daily so you couldn't stack them indefinitely. Otherwise, it'd end up like Voidstones and people could just stockpile Moglophone IIs and skip Segment farming completely. In such a case, a free Moglophone II is only as helpful to a newer player if they are entering Gaol on a frequent basis to use them. The gifted phones are worthless if they're being handed out and not used. That's why I suggested weekly, because many groups don't gather for Gaol on a daily basis, but it's pretty easy to do at least one boss per week.
It would also mean that players can basically enter Gaol for free every single day and never need to farm segments, which would defeat the purpose of segment farming entirely.

Don't really see a problem with that. It also fits the *use it or lose it* model they like so much. You only benefit if you do gaol every day.

You're saying "elitists" are spreading FUD to gatekeep old content from new players? Do you have any evidence or examples of this?

Then again, that would be a very valid reason for the new people to do the climbs organically ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It just doesn't make sense to me, I don't see what hypothetical elitists would gain from gatekeeping people from doing odyssey.
Unless by gatekeeping you mean not carrying people, then that's a different discussion.

Free entries don't convince people to help.
Better (any) rewards for repeats do.

Agreed. Friends will help friends regardless, but I can't see the majority of people inclined to risk/spend a commodity to help randoms just for the love of the game.

If you're in an LS and you see people needing clears you have ability to do, why the f not help them.
Don't really see a need for a reward. Likewise if I see people shouting for a clear, which is never but who knows, why not help them.
Incentives are nice, but not really required in a supposedly social mmo, IMO.

People don't help randoms anymore so I don't know why people are bringing this point up
The game's community is *** dead
Gone are the days of shouting in Jeuno and getting a party full of people just there to help

Helping randoms worked when there was something to gain for the helpers and/or the content wasnt primarily luck based and had an entry fee that the helper would have to foot the bill to.
Also the days of shouting in Jeuno for help was usually full of other people in need of the mission, it wasnt 5 helpers carrying one person.
A helper shout on Horizon is probably "need help with Sandy Mission 9-2"
And I took a minute to look it up, they literally have a program that rewards helpers. Its mostly cosmetics, but theres a reward nonetheless.

That's what made alot of non traditional meta jobs relevant again.
Is anyone who plays non-meta jobs happy just because those jobs get used in Odyssey, though? We use BLU/BST/SMN and maybe even PUP for v25's and I don't know anyone who likes those jobs that thinks being used as a one-trick pony in Odyssey is satisfying. Black mage might be the lone exception because it's so central to Ongo and even the SC/MB T1/T2's.
I think you're on point with the rest as far as forcing players to be more well-rounded, and Odyssey being interesting content, but it's not really helped non-meta jobs significantly.
I mean... While we may agree that there isn't ENOUGH content that does the same thing Odyssey does, so it feels too sparce for those jobs... What's the alternative? Would you rather the jobs not get used at all? I think if you feel that way they you should praise Odyssey and hopefully SE releases more Odyssey style content in the future, not more limbus.
It's only a one-trick because of the content SE put out. This proves it doesn't have to be that way

Everyone is in a static because you can't really trust randoms to perform. The game has such a wide power level gap on gear/skill/playstyle and there's no way to gauge people unless you know them by name. Unless you know the person shouting, a shout for a simple Sortie or Sheol run could be extremely slow or unrewarding. Even when people say they know what to do or say they usually do a piece of content, you could end up inside with them having no idea what's going on.
It's also very difficult to get into these statics cause they are already established and run just fine without you. People have been playing for months/years and are already comfy where they're at. I've run with at least 5++ different groups of people only by being a sub, and while they agree I'm a very good player and our runs go great, it doesn't transition into being anything permanent or consistent, because they already have people. I'm stuck in limbo every day just hoping one of the many groups is gonna have an open spot and if I get chosen to go.
The obvious answer is simple, "make your own!!!" and yeah, that's way easier said than done. You've got to repeat the thing I said at the start numerous times to weed through people who are actually motivated to gear, improve, play better, accept advice and feedback, etc. I'm in multiple linkshells and groups helping newbies all the time, and most of them just will not listen to advice and do not ever get better. Even the people that seem to be good prospects are weeks/months away from being ready to do actual difficult end game content due to various reasons (low playtime, other priorities, etc).

Randoms are only Random until they're static members... No one starts playing the game with 5 other friends, levels together from lv 1 to 99, and continues all the way thru endgame. You meet randoms, make friends with people that play at similar times, and build rapport with strangers until you decide to do more content with them. Doing PUG content like limbus / omen / segs / etc is a great way to weed out who you enjoy playing with or who you find skilled, and then people use those connections to develop statics for gaol / sortie and w/e else
I dont think it's that complicated...
I've run a sortie static for over 2 years. People leave it... I have no original members. I take a shot on randoms all the time, and some people dont cut it for one reason or another, and some people get built up and become absolutely reliable and talented. It's all about attitude and willingness to grow.
I think if you discount "randoms" then you're kinda living in a bubble. So what happens when Static Member B has to leave due to a change in job or a family issue, or simply gets burnt out? Guess we're all quitting endgame because *** those Randoms, right?!
This is all a long winded way to say that I feel like that mentality is toxic... And I do some of the most "Elitist" ***in the game, but I'm still willing to give people a fair shake and help gear people who show commitment and interest

This ^
To this day, my group still shout, sometimes it’s total dud, sometimes it’s just an awesome player, that happened to be JP, speak no English, happen to have this exact free time, very reliable and understand the need of the party at that point (love you wat). He took the shout constantly, we brought him for all limbus NM for a few cycle, we use auto translate and it’s awesome. Peeps should try it, I got my spot like that in my current group (ty zou) and the current/burned out menbers that supported me.
Can’t discover jeuno if you stayed in sandy, same with people. Got to try it, and again

Like I said, it's a community game, you have to play with people and learn who they are. Learn how they play, how far they want to push, etc.
However, new people don't have connections to anyone and are loners. It's great that people you met as randoms became static members, but there's tons of people who don't become static members, even if they did perform well and meet all the other criteria. All we can do is just keep bouncing around until we get invited to become a static member or struggle to form your own group, which is 500% harder if you're by yourself. Most statics form because it's a group of 2-4 people that then fill out the rest of the slots, not just one person who manages to find 5 other completely individual people that meet all the conditions (playtime, skill, jobs, play style, etc).
Then, once you're in a static, most people just play in their own bubble, outside of the rare cases where they need a sub. Everyone quietly does their own thing in their own statics/linkshells, and linkshells is even less frequent now because of Discord. So little interaction actually happens in the game anymore besides private chats. I am in TEN different individual FFXI discords exclusive to Phoenix where actual chat happens.
This is also all ignoring the people who are playing solo with 5 multibox bots automating gameplay for them.

Setting aside multiboxers....
What's stopping these lone wolves from saying "I'm tired of not being able to do this content, I want a group of my own" and taking the initiative to make their own groups, static, w/e you want to call it?
That's what every other static had to do at some point... Just play the game with people, make a single friend, and bam... now you're 2/6. I dont know why you keep talking as if everyone who started the game after a certain point is doomed to be forever alone and is some sort of victim.

Like I said, most statics form up because they are 2-4 people that then fill out the rest. It's very difficult to, from scratch, solo find a full 5 other people (minimum) that are also not committed to other groups doing a specific piece of content, can/want to play the jobs you need to do the content, at the same playtimes, consistently, at the required gear/skill levels, and so on. These servers are not big, and the actual game has no tools to find other people besides yell. I have already attempted to do this for over a week and got yelled at in yell chat for doing so for so long.
It seems so much easier from people who are already established in the game and have tons of connections, especially on a server like Asura, but it is a very difficult mold to break into. Everyone is silent, everyone does not join shout parties. There aren't even CP/EP groups anymore to meet people because everyone just bots it or buys from bots.
That they would be forced to make rema bard or whm cause everyone wants to play war sam mnk
I've got fully geared WHM with Yagrush, Geomancer with Idris, and Summoner with Nirvana. Yeah, I'm working on rounding it out further with more jobs, but it's not an instant easy button to finding a consistent group of people to do content with. Everyone already has their own clique. I bet it's 10x more difficult for people with less jobs and less gear.
