They could take a page from the way Adventuring Fellows work and create Cornelia's Pearl

The innuendos that would emerge from this

Cornelia's Pearl

Yeah I mean they made it into the literal worst possible version of a brand new campaign. No improved drops on gear. No personal pools. No double rema box drops. Excluded the most recent HTBF. There is zero incentive bother getting a daily phantom gem. You couldn't have come up with a worse campaign if you tried.
This event was made specifically for my mule who I haven't capped held merits on, so he could get the monthly out of the way for deeds, so I didn't have to spend five minutes on him.

Yeehaw!

The innuendos

No worse than the cringy cutscenes of you stealing Cornelia's skirt and not handing it back, including "cornelia's skirt" key item.

Since the discussion is about the limited trust, I don't think Enochroot was talking about the OG Cornelia, but rather Karst's daughter.

I skipped all the cutscenes and have no clue what I'm talking about. But tbh, I didn't expect the innuendos and am glad I didn't more explicitly specify Cornelia's Signal Pearl because that'd likely make it worse somehow.

Now to stop all this nonsense and go back to watching this CS for PUP AF, which is sure to be entirely innuendo-free.

If you're on Phoenix. YOU need to panic.

I'm on Phoenix, have been from the start, and not terribly panicked.

To necro this, 6 months on, Phoenix is now back to hovering around 1k logged-in chars at a time - about what it was maxing out at when I posted the above. I don't think there have been significant impacts on play - no ambu waits, no big clashes in shared dyna, no insane market changes. It got busy for a while and died down - maybe it's just that qutrubs suck.

Anyway, I'd like them to re-open it so I can create some new characters, but it's not the end of the world if they don't. I do wonder what their criteria is for opening/closing servers - have they specified any or would that be divulging too much? Or is it more likely they're just going on vibes?

It's probably been said before, but they should waive transfer fees off locked servers. (But muh bizness model bruh.)

If they open it, it'll just get busy again. They closed it before it passed asura.

They've tied their own hands and shot themselves in the *** while doing it. They've resigned themselves to permanent closure or permanent whack-a-server.

Once all the "high pop" servers are roughly the same population there is no need nor reason to lock any servers anymore.

I mean, maybe.

I don't have a good sense of what percent of folks moved here vs. started fresh. How many were coming here looking for community vs. looking for a market (as RMT). The RMT have definitely been louder during this period but I have no clue if/how that's actually translated into business for them. I don't think I've run into any in the field other than the galkabots that spam salvage 24/7 and they were here long before the influx of new folks. I probably don't have as much info as Eiryl on how these things all work, it just feels like there are too many variables to say anything conclusive about it.

Anyone got a graph of active users for each of the closed servers over the period when they've been closed? Anyone wanna throw an AI at that or something so we can at least derail the conversation?

There's always the option to open the server to new accounts and not transfers - or hell, vice versa (especially if you have to wait a 45-day period before transferring a new char).

I'm also curious how much they're banking from the transfers and race changes, maybe we can harp on it during the next survey.

So it looks like the October patch is gonna be a very small one but, conversely, it seems like something more interesting might be in the works for the november patch?
Which happened several times already in the past, maybe because november is the 11th month of the year.

What could they be cooking? I'd love it to be some big adjustment to game content but realistically I think it's "just" going to be the Trust Equipment thing release.
Which is not too bad I guess? Potentially at least.

I dunno, I think trusts are fine-ish as they are and the stats increase (looking at a near future where we'll be able to improve their survivability even further with higher caps) is okaysh.
My only current grip with the system is just:
1) There's so many completely useless trusts. "Removing" them is not an option clearly, so at least re-purpose them so they become useful and not just a slot-wasting entry in the list? It wouldn't be a problem if there wasn't a limit to the amount of trusts they can add, they could just add more. But since that IS an issue, then at least make a few more of them useful gfdi?
2) A global Trust option to turn on/off WSs. So I can decide if I want to keep them on (help me with SCs) or off (stop *** interrupting my SCs). Ideally I would love to turn on/off AoE stuff as well and Haste1 but I'd be happy enough with the WS toggle
3) Cornelia available fulltime, pretty please?

Confused by one of these sentences, can anyone who reads Japanese confirm it's just a translation error:
Quote:
Elsewhere, in order to aid those of you making your way through the new Dynamis content, we'll be adding items that can be used to weaken the boss monsters in Dynamis - Buburimu, Dynamis - Valkurm, and Dynamis - Qufim to the list of exchangeable items. Once you defeat the boss monsters in the three areas, you'll be given access to Dynamis - Tavnazia, making this a great opportunity to take on the subsequent content or upgrade your relic armor.
like does he mean the Day of the Shadow Lord stuff? or that those Dynas are newer than the four cities, or what?

Dynamis Dreamland was added after the original city Dynamis, so yes it's "new" Dynamis content compared to the OGs.

Odd they're talking about items to weaken boss though - don't these exist already.

Yeah, the context is they're putting them in login points, not "adding them to the game". But it's weird to see it called "new" dynamis when we have Dyna-D etc etc

They already did this in the past.
Some of the items to weaken the Dreamland dyna bosses were added for a limited time to the... Moogle Exchanger NPC thing? Login Campaign?
I seem to recall something of the sorts. Happened already some time ago.
Kinda makes you wonder why they don't make these weakening items readily available from a regular NPC all of the time, instead of having these limited time campaigns.

As for the peculiar use of the "new" adjective, I think this is likely a translation error stemming from an ambiguous wording in the original text. Which loses its ambiguity only to people who know perfectly what the context is talking about (i.e. people like us, not a generic translator)

In SE speak, Dyna D is "Dynamis Divergence" and dynamis dreamland is "new" dynamis.

I think you're on spot.
I guess I can bet in japanese it's called "Shin dinamisu".
"Shin" is a word that gets commonly translated to "New" in english, altough there are a plethora of subtle differences between the original meaning and the word new in english.
This feels like it's exactly that case.

That bring up a conversation I was having with people in my LS.

If people from New England (or New York or whatever) found a new city on Mars, would they call it New New England?

Their thinking is that it's the new HTBF and there will be congestion. Which would be the case if anyone gave a damn about the drops.

The weapons are so so so bad lol

The armor would be ok if they werent tied behind what seems to be crepu weapon/armor drop rates.

The armor would be ok for returning players IF they didn't have an insanely bad drop rate. For seasoned players it's pretty trash. With the exception of the DRG body, is pretty decent for DRG. Nice that's it's regular DT.

For DRG, Reciente Coselete gives you 10 DA without needing augments from Gleti's Cuirass, which is a huge improvement for newer/returnees. So it's solid there.

I looked at Reciente Coselete for a while, and considered building around it for a DRK-full DA build, when not using Hoxne Ampulla. Pairs nicely with JSE+4 legs for an easy +20% Double Attack, and then you can backfill a lot of DA with Sakpata's set. But that's just the problem with it for DRK: Sakpata's Breastplate destroys Reciente Coselete in every stat. It offers next to nothing for DRK/WAR/PLD IMO. SAM doesn't even care for that with even Empy+2/3 body.

Leaving out the fact that the drop rate is trash, they undercut this armor by releasing bodies from Adoulin mobs that have decent stats (DT-, WSD+). So they were devalued from the very beginning.

I really would love the body for DRG but when an entire HTBF is summed up as "this has a decent body for DRG" like wtf were they thinking?

Then yeah they released more catch up gear that invalidates the WSD body.
