Yap you got *** on that one. Do you already have any omen bodies though? You went in solo so it probably gave you a duplicate one you already own.

Should avoid going in solo for that reason, it's impossible for it to load something you already have, so it would have to reroll something I'm assuming.

FFXI drops never reroll if everyone already has a rare item; that slot is just empty.

The Gold chest drops an item. So, in the picture above he got 9 chests + gold = 10 drops.

Eiryl is obviously right on this point.

It's probably just a matter of what S-E says not being very precise. Maybe they mean that if the game rolls an equippable item that you already have, you don't get a re-roll at a different item from the "equippable" pool... but it's replaced with an item from the "common" pool (alluvion stones, crafting item, etc.) That's a lot more reasonable based on what we've observed than people saying you simply lose a drop altogether, or else we'd have been seeing a lot more N boxes = N items pools. Which we haven't been seeing.

I see what you’re saying, now. I was taking it as you saying if they opened 5 boxes there should be 5 loot which there is but you’re saying 5 visible in the screen shot (brown chests) hence your N+1 statement.

I get your point. I think the only way to really test would be to only open the gold chest until nothing dropped. There was a week that I opened only the gold chest just to see potential items and, man, I want to say that happened but I can’t recall. It’s so many possible items.

I didn’t know what to expect from only opening middle. I hadn’t paid much attention to this thread so when I attempted For all I knew I wouldn’t get anything.

I’ll gladly try again. I actually got more armor drops than trying for thud
