Seemingly something windows or XI itself changed. The only thing that seems to work is adding dgvoodoo.
What I can't figure out is why only like 5 people are getting it. Do that many people already use dgvoodoo or do that many people refuse to install windows 11 / updates.
The base game just keeps stacking up ram usage until it gives up. With no dat mods of any kind and no character logging, it just keeps going up. When it like doubles the base amount it blackscreens. (no where near 4gb it's not the largeaddress problem)

I'm already using dgvoodoo and I've still seen increased blackscreens (substantial) over the last week or so. I haven't dug into it but my initial impression was that it is FFXI itself. Granted, update tuesday was the day after FFXI's patch so..
FWIW, even if you aren't anywhere near 4GB, you can still have fragmented memory within the application's address space. If you don't have enough contiguous memory address space to load the zone it won't load, even if you're technically only at 1GB or whatever. Every time I see someone bring it up in the last month I just see dgvoodoo parroted with no actual info or ideas
Was there an increase in reports prior to the Monday update? I haven't seen any complaints anywhere, so I was thinking it might just be some of my own tools until this thread popped up.
But, if it's also happening to Windower users that points strongly to FFXI itself or a dependency. Is everyone effected on Windows 11? Nvidia card? My gut still says FFXI, given the amount of mistakes they made in this update and the indications they've started using AI code. Have to until people speak up.
The insignificant number of complaints is odd. My favorite thing in ffxi. I change nothing and ***still breaks itself. I think it's just that the game is directx8, and legacy support might be borked on win11/ newer card drivers or something. It hasn't run long enough to know. I was having that issue a lot previously. I was also running an addon called visiblefavor that i would constantly get notices of errors whenever i left my pc on for days. I turned that off and i have yet to have a black screen since. Not sure if its related.
I'm fairly certain mine started on 5/6 or 5/7 so my blackscreens predate the update at least - although that's not to say it couldn't be contributing. Playing for the past year on Windows 11 + Nvidia GPU I don't think I've ever run into it before this though.
