Well how was it? Any pix? Intend to go back?
It was absolutely amazing. I loved being able to actually use my Chinese in everyday life. We weren't allowed to speak English all summer long, so it was a challenge sometimes. :) Chinese people (except for like...
most cab drivers, racist *** ><) love foreigners; I felt really welcomed. I met so many awesome people it made me cry when the semester ended. :/ lol
As for photos, I have like 2000 of them to sort through lol will post some soon(ish). :D
And I definitely intend to go back. :) I wouldn't want to live there though - too much pollution and censorship. XD Plus I don't think I wanna try finding a bf over there lol
Just like in the US, people who live in Chinese cities (as opposed to out in the country) tend to have better attitudes toward gay people. Can be weird sometimes though; some people either don't believe in homosexuality or just don't grasp the concept somehow. Like if you tell them, they still keep encouraging you to hit on hot girls when you go out. XD That being said though, for one of my class essays I wrote about the institution of religion as it relates to homosexuality, mentioning my experience as a gay person in the southern US. Later that night, another teacher (who had gone out to the bars with us, sooo cooool lol) told me that my teacher had gossiped about it to all the other teachers, who thought it was great. XD He spent like the whole night reassuring me that Chinese people aren't all homophobes. Meanwhile I was trying to reassure him that I knew he wasn't a homophobe. XD Fun night lol
