I agree evasion gear is good for "OH ***" macros, but I just put -pdt in mine instead.

Because getting hit for 10 points less dmg will not interrupt you when you cast shadows?

As Shiyo has told me before, I'm a fail NIN, but I don't see how you can keep shadows up consistently while solo on stuff that attacks fairly fast/accurately with DA

Get more -pdt, i can idle in -47% PDT. Still doesnt detract from getting interrupted though. Generally speaking, i will only really start casting ichi in eva, then swap to haste before i finish my cast to get the benefits of both eva and reduced timers.

I don't know, I can keep shadows up vs TAing VT thief goblins @_@

Because when shadows are about to be down, you want to reduce the damage you're about to bloodtank for 1-2 hits.

And when you're bloodtanking in your -PDT gear, you dont get interupted when recasting shadows?

You time your shadows casts, ni is back up, etc etc. You don't cast like you're not even looking at your monitor, you cast between mob hits etc

Uh, no. There are situations where you ARE going to get hit 1-2 times because you have to wait for the mobs attack round or your shadow timers aren't up yet.

On simply NM's like Bune or LoO, you build eva so that you can tank with 1-2 shadows on at all times. Ever had shadows down on one of those and get a cross attack or fang rush?

afaik, nin/drk was kinda a fad, but i know some LSes still implement it. but nin/drk uses spells to generate hate rather than melee. a lot of ***isn't 'blind' so to speak, meaning evading is pointless.

i've read varying accounts about how much enmity+ is needed for hate generation, but 20 seems to be about where you want to be.

either way, nin/drk doesn't want to feed tp, so he uses earth staff. evasion won't matter, so he uses PDT on his armor (arhat's, jelly ring). or in the case of some monsters, resistance gear. resist+250? for most things, and barfire+350 for tiamat. (that's w/ bar&carol mind you.)

PDT *is* good in an oh'***macro against something you can't evade. but against something you can evade, evasion obviously is better.

also byakko triple attack followed by an immediate WS says hello. unpredictable ***like that happens, PDT helps.

i said nin/drk, but no i don't. but PDT helps when you're against something that can bypass the shadow wall easily like that.

and duo nin/drk tanks on byakko can be 'one'-shotted this way. ***pld/nins can.

Yes i understand. But we're talking about the usefulness of evasion in solo nin/dnc situations. Not in a Large Scale NM situation. PDT- works on Byakko i understand, but on small solo/duo'able stuff, PDT- is just asking for trouble. You shouldn't of got to the point where you ran outta shadows.

Anyway, main point is ACC food for solo nin/dnc still applies. Cause you want tp for cures.

if we're going by the title of the OP it says tank, not solo, but either way i didn't read it either.

but nin/whm solos just fine. or nin/sch. haven't tried the more daring solos, like charybdis, but no need to. idk. i don't take my nin too seriously.

Try that against something that actually hits fast and accurately

Go solo the Fowling Earring NM on Nin/Dnc with only your PDT set and no eva set and tell me how it works out for ya.
