I'm hoping the benchmark overexaggerates things...
because I just bought a brand new laptop
windows 7 64bit home premium
intel core i7 820 @ 1.73GHz
8.00 gigs ram
and
mobility radeon HD 5730 1gig graphics card...
unfortunatley at 1920x1080 I only get an 871 score and at the 1280x720 I get a 1880 score... which is "playable" according to the benchmarks website, but not exactly good.. >_<;;;
I have virtually the same specs. Only difference is I'm still running on 4GB RAM. As long as you turn off Ambient Occlusion it'll run beautifully. The ONLY time I ever lag out is where there's an obscene amount of people on screen. Mostly happens in camps where all the retards AFK throughout the entire beta test. (As to why...is beyond me.)

Did you run benchmark? Wondering what your score was on that... since you seem to run fine on actual beta thats encouraging (which is why I think beenchmark is underscoring... least I hope so, because I just spent a shitton of money on this comp, specifically for this game XD)
I wish I could post the myriad of SS I have but alas, I'm paranoid about breaking the NDA/losing access. >_> I love playing too much.
Make an anon account with a proxy and post them?(After the required editing, of course) <3
Send to a friend who sends to a friend who edits who sends to this threads poster, and posts them for ya :P (or well just edit yourself and send to him who'll then post <.<)

Benchmark scores were misleading. I got about 1800-1900 on Low because I obviously cant run it on High because of the monitor, lol. I run it fullscreen at native resolution with x4 sampling and shadows on High. Its not the absolute best in the world but it still looks/plays absolutely fantastic.
:EDIT:
Christ, you guys are desperate for pics, huh? >_>;

There are problems with the Radeon cards and are strongly not recommended at this time all over the Beta Tester Site.
There are driver issues, so your laptop might basically be running without the support of your vid card.
Hope there's a fix for it before release since a lot of people use ATI cards.
I use ATI and I haven't had any problems since about a week ago. As for the drivers, just check frequently to make sure they're up to date.
They still had problems with the 5700 series last I checked, but ya, they do say they're working on it and had plenty of people report issues being fixed with many models
The only small problem is that I still get the occasional screen tearing when moving the camera around. It used to be horrific before but I've noticed a huge decline in it recently. In some cases I don't even notice it unless I actually look for it.
There's your problem. Laptops SUCK for playing games. Should bought a Desktop
I know. Unfortunately, I need a laptop for school and ***-- besides, the type of player I am, I play moving around all over the place. Play in airport, take into kitchen while cook food, play between classes. I utilize its portability to the extremes.
Not going to spend a shitton of money to build a desktop that I'll use the 10% of the time I'm actually sitting at a desk, and then even more money for a new laptop to perform to the degree I need it for school (solidworks and autocad needed)

I couldn't even get my benchmark to run for a week, but after spending 4 days nonstop diagnosing and studiously trying to fix the problem I got it...
my comp wasn't updated to the proper directx and catalyst and drivers needed for the graphics card to work properly... and despite reinstaling them all 4x each, still was having issues (until I manually copied over some files from the syswow64 folder to the system32 folder, then reran catalyst) which FINALLY let me run the stupid benchmark... so I still forsee other issues... but a lot of the issues ppl may be experiencing could be related to what I was going through... I don't know... x_______x;;;;; but that was a pain and really hope its good and won't mess up again when game comes out... :X
(my nvidea on old comp worked perfectly fine w/o any errors... making me wary of this ati)
So many things! I really know very little about this game.
The elvaan males are very attractive lol, one reminded me of Johnny Depp somehow lol. The Mithra's still enjoy minimal clothing it would seem lol. And the tashes on the tarus are amusing.
That leech looks like a Tribble from the original star trek just with a face and ears, so cute lol.
Do you have to pick a first and 2nd name?
Those bazaar characters, I guess that saves on you having a mule? Whats the actual Auction house like if it has one? Or is it all shop based/characters selling wares?
What do mobs drop in this game? And whats the highest level people have got to so far?
How does it differ to FFXI in terms of equipping gear, holding items (max inventory?), casting spells etc?
Also can you explain more about the jobs and crafting etc? I really don't understand how all that works and it would be nice to know before this game comes out lol.
This taken from Play.com:
The Armoury System: Change classes by simply equipping a different weapon or tool. Spend an hour hunting bounties as a gladiator. Spend another baking in the kitchens as a culinarian. Develop your character however you wish: anyway, anytime, anywhere.
I just dont get it lol. How does that work??
Also if anyone is wanting to know whats in the collectors edition:
Recently dumped a boatload of cash from our company buyout into a new computer. Scored a 6057 on the benchmark, but never tried it with my older one.
Is that a decent score? They don't seem to have provided any measuring stick, and I never read the previous e-peen comparison threads.
That's incredibly good in comparison to everyone else.
Also XIV just had a huge performance boost apparently.
Scores go something like this atm:
0-1000 = Unplayable
1000-1500 = Low - Medium quality
1500-2000 = Medium - high quality
2000-2500 = High quality
2500-3000 = Very high quality
Of course you could push it higher if you could handle a bit of lag, but those scores - quality numbers are assuming you want to play with no lag at all.
Highest I have scored on the benchmark is 780 pc is 3 years old. That being said I can play the beta just fine I think the benchmark is just a bunch of bs :P

I'll awnser what I can/what I've gotten from here.
Yes, your character will be name1 name 2. (Bob friend? Idk, an example)
Bazaar characters will be like your own personal NPC. From what I caught one per character made, so more characters = more bazaars? -Unsure about that- There IS an AH, but its not active on beta.
...And thats... All I know. I'll find more out soon when I talk to a couple people.
Ok, i've taken a few days off from lurking forums etc. I've got some screenshots I need to edit, and will upload tonight. They're not of the highest quality, but new is new :D
The Mithra's still enjoy minimal clothing it would seem lol.
Had a lot of fun purchasing new under wear =^^=

It is, mine scored lower than that and I can run it albeit with some FPS jumps.
Hi, I'm NOT in the Beta. But that doesn't mean I'm not curious as to how the game mechanics will work, and how various things will work. I previously created 2 threads about various news that those of us not in the Alpha or beta won't know.
I know for some of you who have this information will be pissed because I'm breaking the NDA. But quite frankly I don't care. If there are any players like me out there, you'll be itching to find out information, and I'll try to help with all the info I'm getting from my sources and various websites.
Well after all that, let's get going.
Bazaar system:
A retainer is a character which comes freely with your main. This character can only have one name, and will sit in the marketplace when you are offline, or are otherwise indisposed. I assume all money will be kept on the character. You may pay 100 gil a day to get a proper stall, and you can decorate this to look like a weapon shop, or a craft shop etc.
Ability System:
For those of us who aren't in the Beta, here's a bit of information on the Ability system.
The system seems reminiscent of IX's ability set system, and Seems to have a lot of similarities to BLU magic setting.
Crafting
So the crafting seems to be some sort of mini-game. I know currently, synthing is like XI, but gathering materials when you're a miner or another class, works like a mini-game. Better you do, more resources you get apparently.
Classes:
Along with the standard classes, other classes have been found in the dat files Some of these are:
Musketeer, Fencer, Shepherd, Mystic.
There are more, but I'm having a hard time finding info.
