Game modes come and go all the time.
No they dont
I can still play every de_, cs_, es_, gungame_, etc counterstrike map from 2001
I think Viciouss is referring to game mode "removing" or much more cycling game modes so you don't split the player base up too much to avoid long queue times before a match is found?
I haven't seen it done in a shooter but I know in league of legends they have or had a fun mode queue where different game modes cycled every couple of weeks or months.
By the way, when valve released CS2 they deleted CS:GO (it's predecessor) from their store and launcher so it afaik wasn't accessible at all for roughly 2 years. Only recently they added it back, but not in the store, they buried it behind some beta settings because they're probably still worried if they make the switch back too easy they'll risk another significant split of the player base.
CS:GO had very positive reviews at the time they replaced it with CS2. CS2 inherited all of CS:GO's reviews even though it didn't reflect the experience.
CS2 is still missing content that GO offered, for instance the danger zone mode.
I think refunds are a good thing if companies try to screw their customers over for instance by deleting a game mode in particular if it's been advertised. I don't think cycling game modes to shorten queue times is necessarily the same thing.
However, makes me wonder if this also applies to valve's games? Would CS:GO players be eligible for a refund? Would that refund include micro transactions?
My guess is HECK NO, but we have a
topic for that if you want to go deeper into it.
