can quibble over word choice if you want, but trusts did fundamentally change the game irrevocably. giving people enough agency to handle many mundane tasks alone is taken for granted these days, and is one of many changes that left the community a hollow shell of what it used to be.
some prefer that freedom, some miss the forced cooperation. the thing is, they're both kinda right. not having to play with stupid people prevents unnecessary stress and friction, but ensures your social circle stays small and potentially misses new people who would fit in with your group nicely.
