Yes. You need 2 times as much attack of a mob's defense to cap with 1H and H2H, 2.2 times their defense with a 2H weapon.

Edit: It's a good thing for 2H, since you don't seem to know the mechanics.

Here

"Ratio is capped at 2.0 for one-handed melee weapons."
"Ratio is capped at 2.2 for two-handed melee weapons."

The 2-hand update obviously hurt 2-handers.

In case you don't understand why it's good:

Rag99 143 base damage, 23 extra from fSTR, which is fSTR cap for 99 Rag.

(143+23)*2= 332

(143+23)*2.2 = 365

Your damage can cap higher.

I believe this means that two handed weapons can gain more from going over the cap. Not that two handed weapons require more to cap versus a monsters defense.

The ceiling of benefit is higher for a two-handed melee user than a one handed user.

Otherwise the two-handed update would have been supremely negative . . .

Scenario:

Monster with 300 defense (according to your statement) 600 attack caps damage.

Player A with sword at 700 attack. (Giving capped damage.)
Player B with a great-sword at 700 attack. (Giving capped damage.)

Player A is receiving no benefit form the +100 attack passed the cap, however Player B would.

The caps are different. x2 a mob's defense for 1H, x2.2 a mob's defense for 2H. What's so hard to understand about that? 2H caps higher, meaning they have have a higher threshold for cRatio.

Player B is 40 over cap.

So player B needs less attack then, because that's how ratios work.

Less than player A, even though you said 2H needs .2x more than a one-handed weapon.

No, Player A is 100 over cap, Player B is 40. I showed you how it works earlier, please look at that before you try to tell me how it works.

It's a higher threshold, it's a good thing for 2H. A higher attack cap means you get more from your cRatio, meaning you do more damage.

How would one go about testing Ig-alimas defense anyways? I rarely see DDs besides DRKs pull out consistent damage on him. I'm assuming botulus rex has something like -50% PDT in addition to obscene defense?

We know he's level 120, according to a dev post. So from there you'd have to keep a stable attack and keep his defense stable the whole time too. Best way is test server with MNK 2H and fanatic's and parse a long time.

This is always how I've thought it works, and the ultimate benefit of wielding a 2hander, is a higher threshold where attack can matter.

Not that a 2hander is penalized by a .2 multiplier for some odd reason.

I was confused, but things make sense again, so thank you.

Your rudeness however is quite trite.

Everyone knows left handed are the work of the devil and to ban them you use Falcon punch, which you want to TA/DA, so right hand for Epona

But for MNK, only the left hand multi attacks. So obviously Epona's goes on the left, otherwise it doesn't work.

It's counterbalance! Wearing it on your right hand gives more momentum and grove to your left handed swings. Clearly that is how it works so well.

No, that's why rajas is on the right. Subtle blow, so they think a big hit is coming, then you beat them up with your left while they try to block the right. Duh.

No, that's why Rajas is on the left! Get with the times! With martial arts, everything is the opposite of what it's suppose to be since you counter and make use of that momentum on the opposite swing!

(this is getting silly)

2.25 for 2handed

also what you posted is a confirmed DEF of bluffalo at max level in aby-uli Most VWNM I have found to have that much if they are bird/mage types(brids and mages most the time have lower DEF some beastmen ignore this tho loltrolls)

PLD mobs have much more

aswell as most mobs of the demon family(t6 in valc) tho from the 5 runs(x4 kills each) i have done of him he isn't all that defensive id say around 800def tops

Vit of around 110-120

i dont VW to much i found him fun to do math for because the stronger ones are always fun

if a /sh comes up again ill Parse cleaner(i just put them all together based on weapon i used) and save it for better data

also you are not capping on most things on war with or without a GS.

also attack is calculated as follows if you are having trouble seeing how DRK pulls ahead ,also stalwarts is 10% attack put in like a berserk affect.

2 Handed Attack = {( 8 + Combat Skill + 3STR/4 + (+attack from gear) + (+attack trait/ability/minuet)) * berserk effect (if available)} * (1+ percentage increase from food )

i do it buy doing runs with capped PDIF (drk/war with all the funness works) then do another with something that is less capped (drk/sam without food and no COR attack roll is good) you can get a good guess from the difference in melee damage/WS damage between the buffs if you have a guess for monster level to start from.

also see this for Rex link he is a flan so he takes less damage from physical damage himself as well as being a very high level (prob 120 like the demon one)

also for the OP there is no better weapon a good player can beat a relic user with an AH weapon all the same Both weapons have Great use just has to do with who is using them. (but i would pick apoc over rag because Rag doesnt win by enough to offshoot the Benefit of HP/MP drain Weaponskills)

For one, geniuses, we have confirmed INT/MND/CHR stats for Kaggen/Pil/Akvan.

They are much higher than 110-120.

You can expect that STR/DEX/AGI/VIT for T6 mobs to be even higher than what was observed from Kaggen/Pil/Akvan.
