Fettering Blade (from Dawn high tier) looks FANTASTIC as a BLU lockstyle piece. The kind of glowy-looking blue-green tip is sort of an... aqua-blue mage :) I think I'm gonna DW them in lockstyle for a while (dig how it looks with empy set, actually)!
I'll USE the thing on my COR. But so far I've gotten more use out of it as super stylish BLU gear.
wouldn't be an incredible addition to the arsenal, but it's the principle of the matter!
Speaking as a COR, I'd be pretty devastated if a bunch of bad BLUs wanting yet another mediocre magic-sword were out-lotting CORs that can REALLY use the weapon (best mainhand in the majority of situations thanks to Leaden Salute, Wildfire, Quick Draw). It's bad enough that WAR DRK are on it.
But speaking as a BLU... yeah, it even LOOKS BLU-ish!

You can't post something like that and not show us what it looks like.

I make an aside that I thought could lead to an interesting/relevant topic.... Go to sleep...
And THIS is what happens!?
I didn't realize I was THAT good at being Betty Crocker. >_>
It seems pretty clear that he's talking about melee. especially considering that he talked about accuracy.
Some people don't quantify Macc and Acc. So they just say "accuracy" and hope context defines what they're looking for.
Which was my questioning that started this mess. (Especially given that Iris is a "magic sword" and not the melee style Nibiru.)
someone I play with has been soloing it on some job, at lower difficulties. BLU can probably do the same(I don't think that person has a geared BLU).
I've gotten VE down to an easy solo (finished with 100% HP and 50% MP, no meds). Going /WHM for Cursna/Viruna helps, but bring Echo Drops. Keep Aquaveil up and use Occultation as needed (but AoE will strip most of the time). Save Sudden Lunge for the second stage as immunity builds fast. Just save MP for curing even with trusts, but shouldn't need much unless you get a couple bad breaks.
Used Kupipi, Koru, Moogle (for MP), Semih at range and Balamore (does surprisingly well here).
I haven't tried E as I'm a pretty crappy BLU, but I'm sure more talented folks can do it.

I did it on Easy, wasn't difficult just annoying as hell. Guess he changes phases or something. And also spams the hell out of his TP moves. So much amnesia, was very annoying. I'm sure if I bothered to look up the TP moves before going and practiced a bit, it could probably be done reliably solo on N as BLU at least.
Likewise for Omega on Normal. The only dangerous moment was after a Pile Pitch. It seemed like Occultation remained up after a few of his TP moves, so it seems like a pretty useful spell in that fight. With trusts NIN might be safer though, just would probably take longer.
Dawn is soloable (with trusts, before you start with that BS)?
If so - BLU Apururu WHM - - - and that's it?
Depends on the difficulty I've done E a few times just because it so quick he goes down in 2-3mins total but Amchuchu didn't have a chance at tanking him though I was on the receiving end of everything. Mighty Guard and cocoon makes it so his attacks hit for around 60 damage a hit and 400 for some TP moves. Apururu and Koru-Moru kept me with no trouble.
I was using
Amchuchu
Apururu
Koru-Moru
Joachim
Selh'teus
Could probably use a thf or a DD trust instead of Selh though. I was /thf during these runs too ill probably try N over the weekend but I'll probably have to hold off a bit so Amchuchu is actually tanking or TA some hate onto her.
I can do O/U on Easy in about 5:30, because that fight is braindead easy with /nin and sudden lunge. Normal he's quite different. Cant wrecklessly spam tp moves on him, and he resists stun without a good macc build quite frequently.
I only recommended Amchuchu because he uses AOE Vallation, which give me +50% FC. Means I can spam back to back utsusemi, but I had never tried Occoltation since its such an MP sponge and most of the TP moves are aoe.
But I'll check it out when I get my earring from Feared One. Thanks.
Mind Blast's primary draw was that it dealt more dmg per MP spent than Firespit, in addition to having a decent Paralyze attached. The absolute best dmg per MP is Regurgitation from behind (for the 25% damage boost), but its primary draw was that it's essentially hateless, generates even less than Coronach/Namas.
Nukes weren't used often though. For fights where ranged burst damage was necessary, SA(CA) Cannonball was better. For fights where you're metering hate and maybe fighting something with a physical shield or physical resistance, Regurgitation/Firespit/Mind Blast come into play. Can also go for Ugg Pendant if you can trigger the latent.
Eyes on Me has some niche use too; if you cast it on Dragons you get the correlation bonus which ends up making it worth casting.
I was considering a Seiryu solo attempt on BLU/NIN with Regurgitation spam, but I worry MP will be too big of an issue with such low damage.
Alternate between Blastbomb and Regurg and it may work. They both apply the Bind in the same way. I remember soloing Zipacna using Blastbomb only before Regurg came out. Obviously Zip and Seiryu are not close to the same thing in terms of HP, but still. You may run into problems with Bind wearing off too soon if you don't alternate them. If you can afford the time/risk, Magic Hammer/MP Drainkiss yourself some MP.
Whether you can do it in time or not I don't know. I never tried soloing a god that way on BLU. Yag Drinks and elixirs might make it possible.
I forgot to mention: anything that doesn't resist Breaths will see much more damage per MP point spent from those. Obviously for Seiryu it would be riskier to use Breaths over Regurg/Blastbomb, but Heat Breath and the like are superior damage, and ignore MDB.
If you don't consider using new foods cheating, honestly I think your best chances of success rest on endlessly spamming Blastbomb with Regurg or a stronger nuke tossed in when you have the extra MP. You might need to rely on the macc from something like Pear Crepes though.
If you want to play extremely risky, you can try putting on Dissev poison, but Seiryu is so fast with his attacks that it'd be an immense risk. If you got hit by Radiant Breath it'd be over.
Is what I currently have, minus the Turban, which won't take long to get. Mind Blast doesn't seem to do much at all.

I don't know how much gearing you feel like doing, but point-for-point, you'll get the best results from INT over MND. The AF+1 head is a pretty good option over Yigit. On less risky targets, Corrosive Ooze was also a very good and efficient nuke.
