More sets of gear where all the pieces of the set have the same stats except the singular last stat is something different. Also trying to get you to use multiple or all pieces of the set despite that due to set bonuses.

Feels all the recent gear is being designed by the same person, and I don't like this style/trend. The Limbus armors were the same way.

It's not meant for end game use so what's it even matter? It's stepping stone gear to help newbies or people who skipped on oddy entirely have a slightly better footing if they want to do more recent content. Can't say that's a bad thing. It just doesn't help most of the people on the forms here is all. I'm sure there'll be plenty of people who appreciate it.

It doesn't matter if it's for end game use or not, the design is still bad. I don't like these sets where all the stats are the same besides a single final stat on an item dictating its usefulness. It's not interesting. It also prevents the entire set from being useful for any specific thing. They all just have "general stats" with only 1 special stat. You have sets like the Limbus caster set where the gear is bad, but only the gloves end up being useful for summoner only because that singular last stat ended up being double attack for the avatar. The gear lives and dies by whatever they decide the last stat to be.

Look at Egbesu:

Head: Enmity -9
Chest: Weaponskill Dmg +10%
Gloves: Fast Cast +5%
Pants: Magic Burst Dmg +8
Boots: Cure Potency +10%

All these recent sets have been designed like this. It's boring. It's not interesting. It's bland. I feel like whoever is designing these sets doesn't get what makes FFXI gear interesting and useful.

All of the stats are for something different and don't focus on anything in specific. The gear has magic attack stats but it's purely worse than Jhakri (ambuscade gear) for that purpose (by a lot). If you were to use it for magic attack, you're only going to get 8 magic burst dmg because it's not on all the pieces, and have -9 enmity. Summoner just loses cause it has zero pet stats other than accuracy, cause that final special stat didn't end up being anything pet related for any piece. Even if this reforges to +4 and gets a little higher on all the general stats, it still won't solve the fact it doesn't have magic burst dmg on the pieces, or any other specific special stat jobs need.

We'll see how difficult it is to acquire (drop rate, NM pop time/place, cost of keys, etc) and whether it can be "reforged", but for a new player, if they already have ambuscade gear, then Egbesu at least is only really gonna be useful for idle/DT/refresh, then maybe the pants for magic burst. Each other gear is only one tiny jigsaw piece toward solving entire other sets with better alternatives that are easy to acquire.

The only thing that matters for gap gear is MEVA and DT and these new pieces are severely lacking MEVA

The augments better add +100 and it better not take 50 kills to do it.

There's AUGMENTS??

Yes, there are augments... Or +1 +2 +3 +4

Not certain. They upgrade in some way.

I dont know where dumdum pulled "theres augments" from, but unless SE mentioned it in one of their pre-patch-preview posts, there is zero mention of augments in the actual patch notes.

The superwarp homepoint/waypoint mappings will likely need updates with the new NM's in SoA areas since I'm presuming all the ID's shift down a few spots.

As far as NM's I could find:
Yahse 01104028 Jolly Twitherym
Ceizak - 01105049 Feral Chapuli
Foret - 011060CE Spellward Orobon
0110603A Ironshell Craklaw
Yorcia - 011070DB Voracious Rafflesia
011070A7 Ravenous Snapweed
Morimar - 011091BB Spellward Ameretat
01109177 Ironhide Matamata
Marjami - 0110A026 Swiftwing Tulfaire
0110A08A Elusive Stryx
Kamihr - 0110B016 Keenfang Raaz
0110B08A Fierce Yztarg
0110B005 Blubbering Ruszor <-this a fished up mob

Nothing stood out in the following areas:
Rala, all gates, Cirdas, both Kaznar

Can use mobID to *** likely location and placeholders if they're lotto opposed to timed.

That was my bad: the Japanese word used in the official post from May (the only place that has mentioned this) used a word that means "strengthen". The official ENGLISH version translated this as "reforge", but the word is used in BOTH cases in Japanese.

I hadn't seen the line from that post before and it was brought to my attention as "it says it's augmentable" and I'm very sleepy, so I didn't read it closely. I should have checked the Japanese word before mentioning anything, as I usually do.

So if the translation is correct: reforge (so +1/2/3 etc). If the translation is incorrect, it COULD be augments like the annoying ones that aren't listed clearly (like Odyssey, UNM augments), but I have no way to check for those.

I'd lean towards reforge, though, because they specifically said they didn't want to do augments for the HTMB gear because it would be too complicated.

I can confirm that the Feral Chapuli spawns (H-9), in Ceizak Battlegrounds. South of Bivouac 1, between the four Chapuli there. No idea on whether it's timed or lottery pop yet.

Looks to be a timed pop, 20~ minutes after death. I got a chapuli horn, party member got Ruwa Armet.

It's around a EDIT: 15~20 minute repop, from what I'm hearing. You can get garbage from the chests as well.

You can kill in alliance, open chest, then open again with your key for another shot at loot.

They didn't describe the game performance bug correctly in the english or JP notes, which does not fill me with confidence, but I'll test whether they fixed it.

I assume they were actually talking about the fact that the game started stuttering (after inventory finishes loading, so exactly the opposite of what they described) if you have a lot of items last update.

So far, from what I am see'ing, SE is giving people incentive to team up on these. Even though the NM's only drop loot once, every time someone opens the chest, everyone else who participated in the fight also gets another personal spoil.

It'll be six months until they upgrade the gear with the augs/+1 cause that's what you do with gap gear. You delay it for half a year to make it good.

It's already confirmed it's getting upgraded. How is the question.

Huh? I was in a party with 3 other people, we all got just 1 drop each time from each chest. Nothing extra when more people opened the chest.

Maybe it's just a chance than, because I was in a party with 2 other people, he opened the chest and I got a personal spoil, than I used my key and got another personal spoil.

You sure you didn't just open it twice? You don't need a key to open it, you just examine it. Using a key lets you open it again.

Those jobs need far more than just gear, they need an overhaul. Summoner's offensive blood pact damage is so trivial they may as well not exist anymore, and there are only 6 party slots available. Cor, bard, geo, and rdm bring far more powerful buff and utility packages so it's got very little use. Beastmaster and blue mage are both in the same boat, just with somewhat better personal dps. Similarly, haste capped melee DD's with modern WSD scaling weaponskills and nyame and multi attack to the clouds make ranged and magic damage look extremely bad, so black mage has no mainstream usefulness and ranger is far better off going K club savage blade spam than it is shooting stuff in the standard tp burn (prime bow and gun don't change this either). Every non meta job is where it is because it either doesn't fit into the core buff/support role, or its personal DPS is so far behind the mainstream dds it's hard to justify using it. Tank and healer roles are perfectly fine. You use them where their services are needed.

The exception is high level NMs, where specific boss mechanics call for those job's niche purposes. Ranged and magic damage serve niche roles where standard melee dps is non-viable; same with beastmaster and summoner support roles (mainly tp deletion). S-E would have to make drastic changes to fit the niche jobs into mainstream play, and at this point there's no chance it'll ever happen.
