Todays news: “Brazillian olympic comitee buy antisex bed for the athletes”.

Yeah, i heard stories of young athletes that right during olympics, used to just fall in flesh pleasures.

Kinda unacceptable, because olympics is the biggest sport event for some sports. Those athletes could just screw any time of their life, but no, they NEED to do it in the short few weeks that happens once every 4 years, and not only that, for some athletes it could be a one in life event.

But no, they need to *** each other, use recreational drugs at every single moment in their lifes

We live in quite comfortable, wonderful places where choices like that are just daily occurrences^^ Half the athletes at an Olympic gathering arrive in a city that looks like something from a fantasy novel compared to their entire existence prior. I can't blame them one iota for feeling distraction.

The olympic games are just a sideshow for the public. The real olympics are the ranked competitive sex between the fittest people on earth.

[There were a whole lot of clickbait stories about anti-sex beds when Tokyo hosted the olympics, but it wasn't actually true. They used cardboard based beds that could tolerate 400+ lbs and people jumping on them. The reasoning was so that the material could be recycled after, nothing to do with sex. I'm not so sure this is actually a thing.]

Its gonna be a great Olympics for the Americans. France doesn't have air conditioning, and that was the number one ask from American athletes when the US Olympic Committee asked them what they needed. So they went out and bought every single athlete an A/C unit for their rooms.

This stance surprises me, I expect to hear it from 70+ year olds or extremely religious people.

You need to unwind between a once in a lifetime performance chance and that degree level of stressful track events? Why not have some sex to work through that in a healthy manner and be ready for tomorrow's event etc

Put any moderate-large number of early-mid 20s fit people in an area like that and the result will always be the same, it's been a thing at the Olympics for decades and will for years to come. I remember one year, I think it was Atlanta maybe?, there was an article about how they just had bowls of rubbers everywhere in Olympic village. I more or less see the same discussion every year.

Where IMO it becomes unacceptable is when you consider some of the younger participants who are mid-teens.

I also don't think it's mandatory to stay in Olympic village, which is the center of it.

Well, the thing with that chick is her stuff became public because others athletes started to complain.

And, in the end, she was disclassified quite early with a shameful performance. And she wasnt the underdog. The year before she got silver in the panamerican games. So, everyone was expecting some medal in that category.

But it ended with terrible grades and her image crying in the shower

Well played Coursera...

You said: you have 7 free days before youre charged monthly.

Then I rush to finish my 2-months course in those 7 days. Got the first one of the three done.

Them: Congrats: receive your certificate after your free trial expires!

Well, so much running for almost nothing. I will end up paying at least one month of Coursera to grab the paper, at least.

It has nothing to do with religion nor age. In sports industry, a lot of people believe that having sex before the competition affects mental state therefore it affects competition performance. This stance is not entirely support by enough scientific evidence, but the possibility still exists.

Also keep in mind that in a lot of countries, olympic athletes are pretty much political tools to showcase a country's national power. Their training fees and salary are paid by tax players and their behavior or even what they are allowed to say in public are being strictly regulated since they represent a country. If they have some kind of scandal or have inappropriate speech in public angry tax players who feel they wasted their money will quickly kick them out of the team.

tl;Dr: it depends on the culture but in some country it is better behave before the competition. If they lose the competition after they have sex, "inappropriate behavior" like sex can quickly become the scapegoat for losing a game. Which can be a problem if their training fee and salary is paid by the government and tax players.

Must be nice to be an American athlete. So much human right :0

Once upon a time I remember a Chinese athlete lost a game and failed to get 1st place in a competition, they got 2nd place instead. The entire social media blew up and angry mobs harassed them until they apologize for upsetting the nation.

In some places, athletes aren't normal individual like us. They are like soldiers who worked for and owned by a country with great responsibility and expectation. They have to act and behave differently from "normal people" because that's what they are paid for.

Such a different world.....

You took my comments about as ones that are dripping with entitlement; when in reality your reaction and assumptions about my comments are what reveal that emotion.

Social media? my comments about half the athletes at an Olympic Village must feel like they're in a fantasy novel when compared to their own world simply referred to easily half the participants won't even come from regions with running water or electricity. I'm respecting that those we fortunate might judge as acting out of control are simply acting as human as possible.

Oh noes, a Chinese Athlete who didn't get 1st got ripped apart on their Twitter. Because the public ripping a popular athlete to shreds after a loss would never happen in the Western World....we're so kind to Messi, to Lebron, to Brady....yeah they've never been ripped to shreds by an angry public at their failures.

And by the way- no where any more are "athletes normal people". NOWHERE. If you think Kaitlyn Clark is being treated like a normal woman her first year out of college, we need to have deeper conversations about what's normal.

Stop taking your expected stance that we've seen on this site for a decade out of you..."oh no Western World guy could never understand how absolutely better Eastern Culture is and how much more they deal with than you!" Its tired and predictable.

You missed my point. The whole point it's about which culture is better, the whole point is, to my knowledge(correct me if I am wrong on this), American government doesn't pay those athletes salary for training and participating Olympics, therefore your standard on Athlete's performance will probably be lower because you aren't paying them.

My point is that if an athlete trained entirely out of their pockets or paid by private sponsorship then I don't care if they have sex or play video games before competition or ranked last in competitions. It doesn't matter.

If someone decided to have sex before competition and win, I probably don't care too.

If someone decided to have sex before competition and ranked horribly, I will start wondering if this athlete lacks self control nor have the ability to wait for delayed gratification. Since there are scientific evidence that proved people lacked the ability for delayed gratification will underperform in school and career, I would start wondering why such people gets selected and deserve my tax money.

I was simply trying to explain how athletes having sex before competition getting criticism isn't a religious nor age problem, it can be money problem too. I would rather see my tax money being used on building a hospital instead of going to an athlete without self-control and have bad performance.

That's really all there is and I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask for certain level of result if you paid for something.

I can support Afania's take here. If your performance isn't solely your own (whether because of hundreds of hours of coaching, financial investment/sponsorship, or even just the pride of your country).. then you owe it to those people to do the best you possibly can. If there is a reasonably defensible consensus that having sex prior to your event would make you perform worse, they would have a reason to be upset if you did that.

I'm not so sure there is a reasonably defensible consensus that having sex will reduce your performance though, especially for females. Pretty sure there is some tangental data to indicate it for males, but hard to fully support when mental health/clarity comes into play.

Argument may be easier to understand if you replace 'having sex' with 'getting high' or 'eating a shitton of mcdonalds' or something else that people have every right to do but would reduce performance.

I don't understand why we even keep this silly tradition going (ok I do, corporations making money), given the nature of the modern world. It made sense in the past, when national pride was a thing but it's not anymore.

Nobody is winning anything but the athletes themselves, and they don't do it for national pride but sponsorship deals for money.

Many of the people competing aren't even born in the countries they represent (especially the case in stuff like Fifa etc), clown show.

Its just yet another example of non-athletes trying to tell professionals how to be best at what they spend a lifetime perfecting....its a joke. I see it in music as well- you see it in damn near every professional field any more. Someone gets a platform to say what they think and suddenly they're an expert.

The only reason that the US doesn't fund the training of all olympic athletes is its more effective and cheaper to let the collegiate system of athletics handle it, which is an option almost no other nation on the planet has. Its not a matter of caring less or being cheap- every other nation would jump at the chance to have their own NCAA...hell tons of those nations send their own athletes here for that exact reason!

Not to mention that lesser-supported sports DO have US Olympic programs that fund training, housing, and all the like.

I didn't miss your argument- your argument isn't good so I won't give it respect of someone who actually knows these fields, these athletes, or what makes them successful.
