1 inch is a lot
Its huge
Massive
Almost unbearably too much
When I first moved here I was starting high school and we got sent home early because the grass had a dusting of snow on it, I was confused then and have never stopped being bewildered by the terror such miniscule specs of snow can cause to the locals.
If so then why do they insist on driving in it?
I learned to drive in New York. I know how to drive in snow but in Seattle I wouldn't even try due to all the idiots atempting to drive.
I have to admit that anything like 4" and the only thing on the road is skiers.
We had a few inches of snow at the beach here last week, only happens once every few years. Stuck around for a couple of days too, was pretty nice.
Yea, that was kinda interesting, my family on the NC coast got more snow than we did in the mountains and we got wrecked by a hurricane this year in the mountains while they got none. Role reversal.
Faced with the ultimatum of "get your border under control or face tariffs", my country decided to enter a tariff war with the United States.
Ab-so-***-lute-ly wonderful.
Yes, I hate this, there are no winners.
And for some absolutely childish ***, British Columbia's premier (the equivalent of a state governor) has told their province to "stop buying liquor from red states". I wish I was kidding.
Yep we grew up in NC mountains and moved to the coast. I still can't imagine what you guys went through up there, was a really rough year weather wise.
Yea, the snow and sub-freezing temps were...not welcome. When a house sustains a certain amount of damage, the city comes in with the power company and removes the power box. They did this to my dad's house, which left it without heat. The freezing temps froze the pipes and they cracked. Not much you can do with half the house ripped apart, the water was off but now they have to rip open more of the house to replace the damaged pipes. That's after the tarp on the roof collapsed and dumped rainwater in the house twice post-Helene and flooded the basement, it held up the snow fine thankfully.
That's first world problems considering folks living in tents and trailers, thankfully FEMA extended the funding for hotel stays until May as it was set to expire in the middle of the snow event. We also know folks whose land has been determined to be unbuildable again, which apparently is an increasingly common event in some towns. There's just nowhere for some of these people to live.
I grew up going to Oak Island pretty often, in the 90s the eastern part of the state got hit by hurricanes constantly, hence the Carolina Hurricanes. I used to have one of those dumb 'I survived Hurricane Fran' shirts people sold in the aftermath of that mess, we had a ton of damage and we were pretty far inland from that one. Seemed like every year we had at least one or two. It seems most of that shifted further south, though..
Patrick Roy to the Avalanche
Gretz to the Kings
Babe Ruth to the Yankees
NBA only?
Chamberlain to Lakers
Harden to Rockets
Shaq to Miami
Not even top 3 in its own sport, let alone "any sport"
Another Viciouss flub.
Lmao. This was funny, thanks. First of all, hockey struggles to generate any kind of news. Americans tuned that sport out well over a decade ago and before that it had always been the 4th of 4 major sports. Not even going to waste my time with 90s deals.
Second, the Babe Ruth trade wasn't surprising at all. The Red Sox were flat broke and he was their most valuable asset. They literally traded him for cash.
Moving on, Wilt Chamberlain and James Harden both asked out. Chamberlain was done losing to the Celtics and his coach had already left the team. Not shocking. James Harden wanted to be the man and he was never going to be that guy while on a team with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. He turned down an extension and the writing was on the wall. Not shocking.
And Shaq??? He was openly feuding with Kobe Bryant. A divorce was coming and everyone knew the Lakers were siding with Kobe. These were all completely expected moves.
The trade tonight came out of nowhere, the reporter's account being hacked was trending because no one expected it. Even the players involved were blindsided. No one knew this was happening until an hour after it happened because no one believed the reporting.
It's a pretty wild trade because it kind of makes both teams worse.
Like, Kyrie+AD is not a "win now" team. Much like the Belichick coaching tree, LeBron's Sidekicks only work out if they're paired with the man himself.
And LeBron+Luka, eh? Are there going to be two basketballs on the court now? They're both EXTREMELY ball-dominant; it doesn't matter how great they are individually, they do not play compatible basketball. Like, unless LeBron has decided he wants to see if he can average fifty assists a game I don't get how this is going to work.
Only team that wins here is the Jazz. Good for you, Danny.

If Kyrie is playing up to his potential and AD is healthy, the Mavs can make another deep playoff run. They got a lot better defensively. The Lakers are dead in the water, so much that I think Lebron might ask for a trade. He has a NTC so he can handpick his next team. If I am a Mavs fan though, I am quitting the team.
What if the HORNIEST sex pest on the site, like, a generational talent, got traded to Catseye for someone who's good at forming cliques but not like, the GOAT at them.
Both teams lose a little of their identity and are worse off for it.
Can never hate sportsball discussion too much. Do you know how many times a sportsball initiated student got the teacher in nuke school to start talking about Basketball instead of his personal life?
Praise be unto sportsball for being able to distract instructors.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
