From my understanding, you can “backup” your ps3 games by downloading and installing them and making a backup of your system in that state. Depending on the size of your digital library, that may be many many terrabytes requiring you to buy multiple drives to host these backups on. Playing the game will require you to restore said backup, which will take god knows how long. I know I did this to cheese some Wuchang trophy, and the backup and restore took like 30 minutes. Thats on a M.2, I doubt its any faster on ps3s HDD.

Official Vita storage is no longer manufactured either. They have their own proprietary cards and whats left is very expensive.

There are some microSD adapters these days but that's still costly if you need to backup a lot.

One of the reasons I stopped posting on BG was because it became a hivemind. Any opposition in opinion eventually lead to suspensions and bans. Not a place I want to be. The whole thread proved the point though, in more than one way.

UK, and yes they will do that. Their government is insane, they persecute random boomers making facebook posts instead of dealing with their other "problem" they pretend doesn't exist. So while it seems like some crazy conspiracy theorist, it isn't. This is actually happening in UK and all it takes is one dummy to mass report someone to the police and they could easily use this site to do it. The world we are becoming, which is funny when you look at that thread and how people rush to report/ban over it.

On the physical discs going away, I def understand the push back against that. Although, I have changed to all digital just due to ease. I don't wanna go and swap discs when I can easily just quit out and enter into another game fast. It really is just a form of entertainment/art, so I can see why the company wants to limit resales in some way. Most people don't even purchase used games anymore because all games (aside from the evil Nintendo) get discounted to bargain bins or for free on PSN after a certain amount of time. I lost count the amount of times I bought a game at full price, let it sit in my backlog for ages and then it comes out for free.

I just don't see the major issue, I bet most people who are upset over it weren't reselling their games. I get that you want ownership over it after you purchase and the threat of it suddenly getting deleted is there for sure. A lot of the older systems have their shops offline like the 3DS. Most of those games are easily downloaded elsewhere though, so its just more power to modders and people who keep those piracy markets alive.

The fact he was worried about that just goes to show how much of an offender he really was.
