Excuse my necro bump,

I would like to ask is it worth it to work on Gandiva and will it allow me to do a respectable/acceptable damage in events. Unfortunately I will not be able to obtain Anni any time soon with my current playtime.

Just do Armageddon.
Easier to make and performs better(atleast outside of abyssea).
It also gives you the nice option to use either the strongest physical weaponskill ranger gets, or a very respectable magical dmg weaponskill on mobs with high PDT etc.

I out-damage/parse the majority of Armageddon RNG/COR's with my Gandiva, then again I don't have an Arma built, so I can't really compare it directly with my same gear.

But I'd still like to say build both, I'm currently working on my Arma and am in no way saying that Gandiva out-does Arma 100% of the time, but it does hold its own.

For DD, the Arma users should be doing Last Stand.

If they're just using Wildfire, ofc you'll do more dmg than them.

Shhhhh, they're not supusedto know that.

Wildfire also has the added bonus of giving less enmity than normal, but it's just a -% based on TP I belive, so it's not nearly as reliable\useful as Namas\Coro

Yeah, but I usually end up tanking the NM between K. Club and spamming Jishnu's.

Would tank it even better using Armageddon and Last Stand ;)

Not sure which NM you're fighting, but ppl probably shouldn't use WF to begin with if it's only doing 500~1500....

That's a very low WF, when I use it it's 3~3.5k(rex aside). Not saying Jishnu can't perform in VW, I've seen some guy doing consistent 3~4k(don't remember on what though).

A little late to the discussion, but i absolutely love my 90 Gandiva. I typically JR for 3~4k+ on Qilin, depending on buffs. I'm usually stuck in the mage pt, so only temp item buffs. This is also without optimal gear. (still respectable gear though, which is posted under my profile.)

The highest JR I've personally hit was 4663 on Ig-Alima with x2 minuet, temp items, zerk, warcry, flashy shot. (outside abyssea, inside dmg is higher.)

I don't see the -enmity being a legitimate factor. Any competant drk, war, or sam should be bouncing hate betweeen themselves. I do pull hate, but usually for no more than 1-2 hits, and with fanatics that's a non issue. With gnostics and trick shot pulling hate is rare. Plus if your not spamming or trying to spam last stand then your considerably hurting your dps, unless your fighting Rex, Pil, etc..

My main point was to defend/talk-up Gandiva, there isn't anything like making it rain Lightning! :)

Gandiva, Armageddon and Annihilator should be a goal of everyone who considers themselves a RNG imho.

My use of each almost always breaks down as:
Gandiva - Voidwatch, Abyssea (non Phys-strong/Magic weak mobs), Fodder
Armageddon - Voidwatch, Abyssea (Phys-strong/Magic weak mobs)
Annihilator - Everything else (Especially stuff where pull hate = pancaked in 1 hit)

Since I have WW leveled, Gandiva also has the benefit of dirtcheap ammo so I'm not burning 1-200k per VW set on Adaboys.

Gandiva does a lot more DMG than Armageddon, however it also pulls hate making you the Tank / Sacrifice to whatever you fighting............

Gandiva: 3,500~7,000 outside abyssea on VW

Armageddon: 1,100~2,200 VW (w/o right atmacites)

Inside Abyssea Gandiva doesn't do less than 5,500 DMG

Armageddon : still to try it out..............


That is all the info I have to give as an Input at this point in time.

You claim WF sucked, and yet you're not using right atmacite? - -

Atmacite/atma is one of the few factor to make WF good. It's easily 3k~5k in VW unless you're fighting NM you're not supposed to use WF on.

If you want to compare DD, then use Last Stand.
