I notice a lot of PLD's with fastcast gear or augs.
Though it clearly says "enhanced fast cast effect" (I would assume meaning enhancing an EXISTING JT), and since PLD's dont have fastcast as a JT, why they would get it?
I had a debate with someone in-game trying to convince me to get a fastcast aug. But to me it just didnt make sense that strapping on a bit of fastcast gear would give you the JT.
(though I secretly wish SE actaully made something that easy! because I would totally get it.)

SE recently changed it so that if you have to HAVE the JA/JT to begin with, it will say "Augments JA" instead of "Enhances JA".

I don't think PLD has access to a lot of Fast Cast gear do they? I guess you could wear a Loquacious Earring or Expansion piece but wouldn't the %2 faster cast be rather pointless?
Homam pants, ACP body, loquacious earring, could make a fast cast head from the other expansion too.
Every little bit counts. Though for pld it's mostly done for the -recast.
it's mostly about the recast reduction, pld doesn't have access to enough fast cast gear to adequately reduce casting time for most spells that would like it.

It doesn't make it appear in your list. And yes it will reduce casting and recast time.

I am comfortable with Sirens answer. If you dont have the JT, then fastcast enhancement gear or augs doesnt do anything for PLD. And his name isn't Siren. Enhances gives you the trait Augment doesn't is what he said. Though I haven't seen any Augment Trait items, just Augment JAs. Augment bonuses to job abilities require access to the job ability to have any effect, they will not allow usage of the job ability.
* Job traits, excluding Dual Wield, will still grant the effect if you do not naturally have the trait however. extracted that from wiki page about mirke body augments not sure if it helps mind you Scrolled back up the page to work out who the fk this Siren person was.

5% on MKD head
5% on ACP body 4% on Homam pants 2% on Loquacious Earring THat's a combined 16% cast time reduction. Very useful when solo on PLD/NIN, or without the benefit of Slow in parties, as it lets you cast Ichi between a mob's attacks. Took two videos, gonna try youtube to show you.

As a red mage who has fast cast as a JT, perhaps you could tell me your recast time for Protect 4. Then a PLD with fast cast gear on could tell me their recast time for protect 4. That's a flawed test, RDM has higher Fast Cast naturally than a PLD would by adding gear. Try casting Utsusemi without Fast Cast gear, then again with it.
